So at last we are ending up with this Dutch man Wim Koevermans for a 2 year contract.<br>what do you guys think about him?<br>managed various Netherland division 2 clubs.<br>managed Dutch senior youth team for 6 years.<br>currently in charge of Ireland U23 team.<br><br>He is more like youth coach.so can he get success from managing senior team?<br>fingers crossed lets wait.

Dutch youth team coach is more than good for our NT. In fact that is what we need. A guy who will give importance to youth, has an eye for talent and has the latest knowhow of football strategies and techniques.<div><br></div><div>These are the times when I feel AIFF is sincerely doing its best. There are people who would not leave a chance to tharsh AIFF. I saw this guy on EBRP facebook page saying "Why the hell East Bengal matches are scheduled this way that so many matches are left while others have played more". This one got some 6 likes before I stepped in and reminded them that it happens everywhere if you have international commitments". And the likes stalled.</div><div><br></div><div>Ok, that was offitopic. But think about it. We have the luxury of having coaches for U16 U19 U23 senior and Pailan Arrows! And then we have a high-profile Technical director!! Crooscheck with Maldives, its the same old Istvan Urbanyi running the affairs at Maldives camp for AFC U22 Championship.</div>
  • I agree wid Somesh..we dont need too high profile coach since we already hav Rob Baan..atleast we hv dis dutch coach who has experience wid u19 and dis way he will knw who to bring into da NT from U23 or U19..he will b gud for us i believe..kudos to AIFF for atleast thinking in da right direction :) M sure in da near future thy will take more such measure and hopefully we will b in da right track to bcum a better footballing nation!!<br>

Again AIFF does need to be credited for this kind of initiative...yes we are not getting results, but i think in few more years we will be able to see the fruits (thats a hope of course)</div>

  • @Somesh is 100% spot-on! He is right. We look at the teams we mainly play (and will play with for a few more years until are level gets to a higher level of 130s) like Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, etc they dont have what we do... a good chance of getting a high profile senior coach. They also dont have respective professional coaches for u16, u19 and u23 levels of the game, we do. Yes the u14s and on occasion the u16s are coached by an Indian but those Indians are professional coaches at least.<div><br>As for Wim, I agree that this is what we need. Like Somesh said this man will give the younger players a chance and I hope at the Nehru Cup that we see a younger squad with maybe a few over 25 players like Sunil Chhetri.</div><div><br></div><div>As for his assistant I dont mind Savio staying, Wim needs an Indian to show him Indian football.</div><div><br></div><div>Overall, good job AIFF.</div>

assistant coach's job is not just to show indian football!!..we can use that post to develop a good Indian coach...do we have any such high profile indian coach?..one can learn a lot from the head coach..appointing savio as assistant for long term is just useless...he wont improve further. instead we shud go for potential guys like kashyap etc...
