@gaffertape, don't break us ISL-lovers' heart with your inside stories! We can see through the franchisee owners that passion for football is oozing from their heart! ISL is going to grab (or, should I say, drag) Indian eyeballs and that is going to be massive.
And well, the owners may indulge in a little money-laundering, it won't hurt anyone, you'll see! Even the model franchisee tournament -- IPL -- is also involved in money laundering, so what.
To be honest, all of what gaffertape said just sounds like what happened when MLS began. There was a point when all the teams were owned by 3 people. Some teams were just rolling till they got an owner.
As for the players... I don't know what to say.
I just want, in the end, for this league to do well because if it doesn't then Indian football is finished. The I-League is a dead product ran by idiots and this league is ran by rich businessmen who seem to only have their minds on money but hey... they have money and power.
For now, I will continue supporting this league and hope that they will improve the game. We need something good to happen for once.
@Arsenalfan700 for the league to do well, first let the league begin, I don't know how many times they might reschedule and don't know exactly if all the teams would participate. Moreover, with the Indian signing (players) don't expect that this league is the answer to Indian football. Its hard to say this but Indian football has been finished long time back. Only way is to concentrate on Academies, grass root and state level.
IPL in Cricket did not block the stadiums for exclusive use. IPL in Cricket did not compromise Domestic Cricket season of BCCI or any International tours of India Cricket Team. They planned it in off-season of Cricket. Same thing goes for Hockey India League-they used the window which FIH gave to them where no other international Hockey takes place so that normal Hockey season is not disrupted. Why didnt ISL use this off-season of June to September??
Now West Indies Cricket Team is touring India in October and November and Star Sports have their Broadcasting rights. Will they spare a channel for this ISL Circus???
In whole world football has become a form of business, that you consider LaLiga,EPL or any other top level leagues.Everything runs on huge amount of money and when that huge amount of monitory transfers are involved that is surely a business. We can't expect that suddenly one day an angel with a magic wand will appear and change our whole football structure. There should be a start somewhere and I can see the initiative of change in ISL.
And who are crying for i League ,for those I can say, what I have seen following the I League for last 2-3 years,it cannot be called as football in its sense of international standard. Due to the poor quality of football played in our local league,India is still scrawling at 150-151 position rank. From this point, nothing can be worse as I league has not shown us any hope for Indian football in its entire life span.So whats the problem in giving a chance to ISL.No one comes here for charity and if ISL=Business and with that business, comes improvement in infrastructure and quality of the football played in India, then surely we should welcome that.Who knows with the growth of this league, the now old retired foreigner faces might change to top level players from Europe/Latin America
ISL new crystal glass coffee instead of plain glass coffee ...... Quality is same .... but high prized..... Stuff is same ... Indian players ,, in I-League or ISL ... Football is not over night magic.... If ISL succeds i'm happy.. if not also happy .... We need Pro league for 8 months and stable clubs.......
