Sun Group have not as yet made an official statement, detailing why they were forced to break ties with the ISL even before its kick-off.
There were talks that JSW, owners of I-League champions Bengaluru FC, had agreed on a technical tie-up with the Bengaluru franchise and, according to another report, were keen on a 25 % stake in the franchise. But when the joint venture documents were sent to the organizers for approval, IMG-Reliance turned it down.
"The joint venture had too many conditional points which could not be agreed upon," said another source.
The official did not go into details of "conditional points" but those in the know of things said use of the Kanteerava stadium in Bengaluru and insistence on home matches only on Sundays -due to renovation work -did not go down well with the organizers. The organizers have an agreement with Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) to use their Football Stadium for the ISL.
"The problem with Kanteerava is that JSW have started refurbishment work and since it's a multipurpose stadium, it's said to be available only on Sunday," said the source, adding that matches only on weekend for Bengaluru would be unfair for the other seven franchisees since weekend matches are known to be a crowd-puller and money-spinner.
Answer is Simple. They dont want JSW to involve in ISL. First declined the bid for ISL awarded to Sun group later on Sun group wanted to tie with JSW. Again declined by IMG-R. Now they go to AB for name sake - benami money and admin by IMG-R.
If Bacchhan or anyone comes in...it won't solve the Kanteerava conundrum.... Can't play at Bangalore Football Stadium coz no LIGHTS. .. Can't play at Kanteerava. ..coz it's only available on Sunday...
All the best ISL. I'm not going waste my time anymore criticizing the league here but surely I'll be back in WCQ 2018 Qualifiers when high quality Indian players of ISL will play for NT.
It is mid August already. They are yet to decide on teams, venues, stadiums, cities, players??? No website, no time table or schedule of matches!!!! yet the ISL fans call the league PROFESSIONALS. If you throw up the name of actor Abhishek Bacchan, you become Professional!!!!!
Del Piero coming, Del Piero not coming. Same drama going on for years now. only names have changed. What happened to Dwight Yorke, Crespo who according to media has signed on the dotted line.
