There is nothing like pro/anti its just that few us do not like the concept of the league.
Appreciate the marketing which ISL has done and bought awareness amongst Indians regarding football, but there are some things we cannot accept and dont now believe will happen.
if ISL can manage good youth developement programme by the end of this year ( as they promised) then i think you guys will start not to hate it. atleast don't hate it, you may not love it.
@ashindia: thats a very easy thing to say. When implementation has to be done, its very difficult. Do you think the amount of money spend by IMG, according to figures 300 crores, will be met by AIFF. Do you think yhe clubs can spend so much of money 50-60 crores a year with the same professionalism. Nah. Its all about the , attitude on the field and off the field which I league clubs simply lack to be very frank. Now you might say why didnt IMG invest so much of money in in I league. Simply, because its better to manage things on your own rather than working with crappy AIFF. And if we increase the foreign players when do we provide them the opportunity to turn professional and play regularly. Not everyone can play in ISL regularly with likes of borja fernandez Look at stadium and telecast production. Top notch. People were actuallu enjoying tbe game and for tge first time crowd in VYBK was composed of youth and females alike.
miles better than i-league in packaging and televising. i will literally doze off when i see an i-league game. but isl first game was way better. they r trying to americanise the game by doing gimiks like penalties and all. some may like it some may not. i dont agree with i-league being compared with isl. the quality is there to be seen. same game if its eb vs mb it would have been 1-0 with a lot of mispasses and long shot attempts. this isl game is different.
ps- dont agree gaffer if u say the same will be there for i-league if they allowed 4 more foriegners. cos i league will still bring in random africans and east europeons to fill that quota.
On field activity: Game Quality: Average (Slightly better than I-league) Some good passing. Foreign Player Quality: Best among that India has seen till now in I-league. Indian Players: Same old shit Referee: Better than I-league (need to see other matches) Tactics: Nothing extra ordinary (same as I-league, maybe we will see more once the league proceed)
Off field activity: Glamour: Too much - Less focus on football and more attention to flimstars. Infrastructure: (Based on stadium quality) Slightly improved (a lot to go) Broadcast: Too good. (major positive) Popularity: Too high (another positive, every tom dick and harry knows about the league)
Overall: 3.5/5 Though I like I-league and prefer it over this as I am not sure about the stability of the league, I would give I-league (2.5/5). Solely because of off field effect of ISL. As a guy who wants to see India among top footballing nation, I am CLUELESS how this is going to help Indian National Team or India football in future. Till then keeping I am keeping my hopes alive.
I think @ArsenalFan700 is almost spot on with his analysis . I'd probably give it a 3 rather than 3.5.
At Pune FC and BFC you get a matchday programme with all the team news etc. Also at most i-League games you get stadium announcer who calles out the line-up and informs of attendance and time added at end of each half.
Here the focus was on "catchy tunes" and other gimmicks. the poor state of the stadium was well hidden. . dilapidated, urine stench in the stands opposite the VIP gallery... hundreds of people walking out at Halftime to take a piss in the bushes right outside the entry ramps. the VIP area however was top class...comparable to IPL. au bon pain were catering and you could get everything from a choice of teas and coffees with snacks to good Indian street food too.
Tactically Mumbai FC looked disorganised and a typical Peter Reid team
As for the youth development. ..sadly it will just be a cosmetic eye wash like the stadium infrastructure promised
Should also add that watching Prafool Patel and Sunando Dhar types completely marginalised by IMG-R was quite a pleasant sight for long suffering Indian football fans
Those who do not watch i league, says that it was a brilliant game of display and they never expected such a quality football.People here in Kerala are so excited and waiting for next matches.I think, the quality of telecast and cheering of crowds which usually cant see during i-lEague matches made the difference here.Whenever such European followers watch the game they gets boring because of pathetic telecast and comments. But now they are seeing completely different picture and thats what we needed all these years to bring fans before TV.When you have such high class telecast and cheering fans for each moment, they wont try to assess the quality of football played over there, they will satisfy with such class goals and automatically say it was a brilliant game!
Once i watched a MLS game and i felt like I-League game was better but the atmosphere at the stadium was absolutely fantastic and it brings the fans in front of tv.We need such situation here and img has done a marvelous job to ensure such situation here.BTW i hope quality of football will improve as the tournament proceeds.Lets hope goals from Indians today
