Indians are bigtime sports lovers, you only need to publicize the event and make them feel like going for it is worth it. Back in 2009 there was Commonwealth Volleyball tourney going on in Kolkata and I had booked ticket for the final involving Australia and India. I didn't expect much crowd for this decrepit match which was not on tv, neither was there any awareness campaign about it. But when I reached there, it was brimming with crowd. Netaji Indoor was full to the brink, 10-12K for a volleyball game!

Everyone knew that but for some reason no one took advantage. That is why I am pissed that ISL is not a full-time thing... I can be but IMG-Reliance are to scared and are relying on their "research" which says a short-league is better... bitch, you can easily run a full-time league and get good crowds!

My dream is to see this crowd in a longer duration tourney, if this happens then yes its going to be a game changer.

Also Nita aunty and gang underestimated football fans, they surely are shell shocked.

90% of my complaints with ISL are related to its short duration. If they extend it in terms of months and also in team number, and further reduce the gimmickry, hell I-League may go suck d***s.

Well ya, kinda. Would be nice for ISL to become longer but there is still a lot more need to be done for guys like us to become pro-ISL.

same here i dont have any issue if they make it long league with more teams .. bcz then playing 6 foreigners is not big issue if u have 16 teams
  • ArsenalFan700ArsenalFan700 Reddit13655 Points
Haha, we won't have 16 teams for a long time man!

two bengal teams and bfc should be included.
real grass root programs should be initiated with a recedencial academy.
    age group teams with league.
compromise 1 foreigners slot and introduce an u19 player.
foreign recruitement by clubs only ( with a set stamdard)
in 5 years i want this to happen. lets pray and hope for best.

Lets focus on first trying to make sure how to keep players here for next season... almost every player will move on after this season and the marquee will begin once again.

Try telling that to your fans "Hello, welcome back to the Indian Super League and here are your [Insert team here] and there new players who you have never heard of before."

Easy to do in cricket and hockey but try that in football... never will work. We also need to make sure the current eight teams are somewhat stable. Again, a club like Delhi Dynamos will probably not last at this point and some other clubs might not be doing so rosy behind the scenes. We need stability before we add more teams... don't fuck up like MLS did in the early days.
