Lack of professionalism is their biggest problem, corrupt officials adding further disgrace so NO to big clubs of kolkata until and unless they show some proper development
Exactly. And same to the other clubs in the I-League. Pune FC and Mumbai FC will probably soon all fade away, Mohammedan is gone, no other way around it. The Goan clubs will soon probably just accept FC Goa as the main team. Shillong Lajong will soon move out to NorthEast United or a new Shillong ISL team will be created.
It is all up to East Bengal and Mohun Bagan to move up. And honestly, I would love it if East Bengal and Mohun Bagan move up and Atletico de Kolkata goes away. Atletico de Kolkata is a puppet to Atletico Madrid and there is nothing "Atletico de" about Kolkata, it is not a Spanish city.
I am guessing this is referring to our discussion on having 4 foreigners or more in the I-League from last year... I still somewhat hold on to that belief but I can see how adding more foreigners has helped, as well as all the glamour and amazing coaching.
That is the ideal situation lol but I am concerned that it would not be so easy. Look at how much trouble the AIFF is having in terms of getting rid of Churchill Brothers and other clubs... some reports are that we might go to court. If we just scrap I-League for ISL then some teams that are left out (Pune FC, Bharat FC etc) might just go and bring AIFF to court as they are being "neglected" for "no reason". IMG-Reliance won't care but the AIFF I doubt is in a position to deal with this.
It will be interesting to see what happens.
Happy that Goan football fandom is rising and hopefully it leads to a rise in quality of football in the domestic and youth leagues as well.
Sad scenes at fatorda stadium. People were fooled by being asked to come today when there were no tickets to sell. Now they have put fire. Fire brigade and massive police force. All barricading put up for the match is destroyed.
"In India, you already have one league and now there's ISL. In my point of view, it should merge, the I-League and ISL for the benefit of Indian football. There should be just one league. Otherwise ISL will just be another good event," Zico told reporters here.
"I wish it can happen and I'm here to help the Indian football's development. I'm very happy because all the Indian players are doing their well and I'm ready to help them. But now it's up to authorities to see what's best," he added.
seems goa is overhyping ISL. what did they do all these years when you had loads of I-league teams? i think burning and anarchy bcos they didnt get tickets is something we all should condemn and not feel cool about.
there are loads of ways to tap this craze. how abt setting a giant screen next to the beach. beer in hand, soft sand and football is gonna be awesome.
@DX. Videocon d2h will be organizing two screenings in North Goa and South Goa to bring the fans together when the team plays away from home!
Catch the game live today at 7pm at: - North Goa – Near Parking Lot of INOX , Opposite Entertainment Society, Panjim and - South Goa – Colva Beach ( near parking lot), Margaon
But nobody wants this. All want to be inside stadium on 17th. If tickets were sold in fair manner, nobody would hv complained.
