"Some of the international footballers' names doing the rounds are Robert Pires, former France and Arsenal mid-fielder; Fredrik Ljungberg, former Swedish player and ex-Arsenal mid-fielder, France's Thierry Henry and New York Red Bulls striker, Hernan Crespo, former Argentinian striker and Dwight Yorke, the former Trinidad and Tobago forward."
Still fooling around with same names - Crespo, Henry, Ljunberg. Journalists are out of memory for other names.
The fact that Henry CAN NOT even come here just says a lot. These journalists are just trying to gain readers while they can because they know idiots eat this shit up.
Basically. Just think about it for a minute. These marquees first of all charge a lot of money just to join a club. Second, since they are older and retired even we don't even know how they would do in terms of fitness and quality they display on the field. When Tim Cahill arrived in MLS he barely had any pre-season with Everton and was straight away included in the Red Bulls line-up and it showed how much fitness and quality he lacked as he struggled. It was only after a full pre-season was he able to show his true colors.
And third you have many of these guys doing their coaching badges or what not. Crespo is already learning how to be a coach. Ljungberg is busy with his modelling life. Pires is also working for Arsenal. The only player who is actually available and partially fit is Louis Saha but would people in India light up for joy from him? NO!
And now the other foreigners. The ISL is a 2-3 month competition ran from September to November. We have the entire Summer Window to sign players. If a player is available during the window, a time when every league in the world can sign players, and has to settle for this 2-3 month league in India, then what does that say about the player? He could not get a job in any of the 200 other leagues around the world where there are proper 6-10 month leagues and has to settle for our 2-3 month sham.
Do you really think a good player would actually do this? Think about that. Maybe a few for the money but 95% won't.
So ya, prepare to be dissapointed if you think the players here will be something special.
@munna219777 What about Kaka and Ronaldinho? It looks like Brazilian selectors have not selected them for FIFA World Cup matches.
Mods are free to delete this comment of mine if they think this is irrelevant and does not make sense. I just wanted to name some famous marquee players who can play for ISL. After all we Indian football fans would like to see superstars playing in India.

Last time he played competitive football was in 2011. He is unfit and only make appearance for charity with some veterans like Bebeto or Zidane.
