Last week, I read in TOI that IMG-R is finding it difficult to line up marquee players as most of the leagues worldwide are clashing with the fixture of ISL (actually, the other way round). The names circulating in the air are the old ones from the days of the aborted PLS. No surprises there, we all knew it beforehand, in fact, this was one of the main queries of the doubters.
What surprised me was a news item in the same paper that Subrata Datta invited Atletico Kolkata (well, the club is official, so we can use the name) to participate in I-League !!! My reading is that IMG-R is again mulling to 'postpone' the league (did someone say 'for eternity'?), facing difficulty in giving the franchisees viable players and are trying to appease them with I-League slots so that their investments are not kept idle? Of course, this is discounting the idea that Datta said it in one moment of emotion or loose talk, which surely he didn't. Incidentally, the AK management was lukewarm to the proposal as they would have to compete against the support base of the big two in Kolkata.
If they cannot hold player auction even by the end of this month, the league will definitely turn into a circus.
How can a club called Atletico de Kolkata can operate from Siliguri? The Atleti management did not even visit Siliguri for once, and they are going to pour their investment in an unseen locality? I doubt!
If it is postponed this wil bring india very(10) poor image ...i feel pity 4 at. Madrid they want to help but wat to say abt organisers...surprisingly baichung is silent now where is he?
If the league is postponed it will be the final nail in tge coffin.Anyways the league has faced so much of criticism and with all this trouble India football will go back by 10 years
