Timeline given for ISL teams was something like this :
Appoint Head coach (foreign) & Asst coach (Indian origin) by END OF MAY
Sign foreign & Indian players for the squad by the end of JUNE
This would enable them to begin their promotions , pre-season etc by the middle of July , after the buzz of the World Cup, with all eyes on Football already.
The Delhi , Kolkata , Bangalore franchisee's have no idea about how to go about any of this.
Even "agents" and other players in the football market , have no idea about how to go about this due to the conflicting information given by IMG-R
Do we sign an IMG-R coach for around 25,000 Euro's / month , i.e. 100,000 for the season.....sign a coach for 4 months
or
Do we sign a "cheaper / non-marquee" coach for Euro 10K/month
Do we have to sign an IMG-R marquee like Ljunberg, Pires , Yorke etc. for astronomical figures or can we have the coach bring in 3rd tier players from Holland , UK , Germany , Spain or Portugal ? or will we have to take some of the crap Atletico Paranense players that Anuj Kichlu has signed for IMG-R ??
Of the 14+ Indians we are allowed to sign in the squad, do we have to take 4-5 of the existing IMG-R oldies like Nabi, Nirmal , Wadoo, Ishfaq etc. ? or can we pick our own young players who will no doubt be a lot better ???
One coach who was asked to interview with one of these ignorant franchisee's asked....
Whats your Club name ? .... Where are you going to train , what are the facilities like ?? where will the players stay , relative to the training ground ??
The club " official " gave them a blank stare in return, and said it will be sorted out soon......
signing coach for 4 month when league is only 2 month long ......2 month extra for building the team and finding training ground ..searching hotels ???
