Former England star considering options after second rejection leaves proposed Major League Soccer franchise without a home.
Beckham's investment group, which includes the entertainment impresario Simon Fuller and the Bolivian telecoms billionaire Marcelo Claure, said it would pause to consider its options, one of which will presumably be withdrawing from the project altogether.
Will Sachin be able to convince Beckham? Who knows what might happen.
So, Manchester City have allowed their Melbourne City FC owned club train at their training ground in Manchester, use their facilities, and have already helped the club sign David Villa and soon to be Frank Lampard.
What have Atletico Madrid done so far? Where is our top international marquee? Where is our chance to train in Madrid? Where are the bloody players or coach? Where is anything?
Hell, the A-League does not start till October unlike the ISL which is in September and already Melbourne City have started pre-season, played a couple friendlies, and are now going on tours.
Meanwhile in India we don't even know all the names yet, who the coaches are, who the marquees are, what the squads are, who the foreigners are, and what stadiums they play at. How can you market a league which literally does not exist yet!?
The whole thing is cloud-based, actually. The league, and the clubs, that is. Fans are in cloud 9.
Pre-season will start on August 30. They need to fix the infra first, you see. Then collect Indian players. And Marquee players (Pires, Ljuingberg, Silvestre, Fowler, Beckham, Yorke, and so on). Oh, and select names for the clubs and start websites. The owners' families (including the kids who will take major roles in importing the 'razzle dazzle'), are still busy in Brazil.
Who needs pre-season by the way? All we need is to grab the attention of people. Rest will fall in place. Melbourne City, I think, are placing the cart before the horse (long before, I must say). May be because of cricket's influence.
And to be honest, I am not sure if you are joking or being serious but regardless, infrastructure should not be a problem. It is not as if the teams will train at their home grounds, I am sure there are suitable grounds for training right now like the Cooperage in Mumbai. As for websites, we have known Atletico de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters for how long? We have seen nothing so far other than the squad will be revealed for ADK soon, which I doubt.
Also those marquees are rubbish but whatever, this is a 2-3 month money league.
@ArsenalFan700 Melbourne City FC was formed in the year 2009. Atletico de Kolkata was formed in 2014 i.e. the current year. So you are saying it took 4-5 years for Melbourne City FC to sign the likes of David Villa and soon to be Frank Lampard.
Manchester City acquired 80% stake in Melbourne City FC on January 2014 i.e. 4 years after club formation.
@Cybertron What are you trying to say now? It took them that long to sign them yes, but that was because they were recently bought by Manchester City and are probably the richest team in Asia now. Before they were owned by some Aussie businessmen who had money but not a lot. They had enough to bring back Champions League winner and Aussie legend Harry Kewell (post prime obviously) and former Dutch international Orlando Engelaar.
@ArsenalFan700 What I am saying is let this Indian Super League get started as per schedule. We will know then whether it will be successful or not. If not then I-league is the only hope we have for Indian football.
Koevermans: The better the I-League is run, the better it is for the national team
