Chennai Football Association (CFA) - Chennai Senior Division football has not happened this year due to tussle between CFA and TFA (Tamilnadu Ftball Association). It's sad considering the fact that there are a total of 90 league teams and 2000 players were left in the lurch as there is no sign of dispute resolution. There are 5 divisions in the Chennai league.
Noone in AIFF is bothered about it. Players like Dhanpal Ganesh, Nanda Kumar, Soosairaj played there before establishing themselves in Ileague and ISL. CCFC ileague winning squad was scouted from CFA last year by Akbar.
The problem happened due to Rohit Ramesh, Owner of CCFC defeating the Gokulam Kerala Officials (represented via the Club VIVA Chennai) in the elections held for CFA last year. Subsequently, the new CFA officials were demanding elections for TFA, which were not held after the stipulated time with TFA officials continuing to hold office indefinitely. Now, TFA created problems and stopped CFA from conducting the league.
TFA is a puppet of FSDL, TFA plans to destroy football in Tamil Nadu, to cut the supply of local players by CCFC. and make it look like there is no local talent in TN so they can justify the hundreds of useless NE players imported by fake Tamil club Chennayin.
Even the new Bengal Football league will be played only in EB and MB ground. I was expecting to see some new district venues (Not Kalyani, SLG etc.). But, Alas !! No wonder Bengal did not grow beyond Kolkata. After 70 years, still no other city came up.
@sam: And those that did come up (at least to a certain extent) or had the potential to come up like Durgapur, Kalyani etc. were ruined due to excessive politicking
And nobody, including the IFA or TV channels like Zee are in a mood to really spread club football in newer venues. Zee Bangla teams are so plastic. Instead of district based teams they should have gone for city-based teams.
Anyway, an one month tournament doesn't leave any permanent mark.

The Durand Cup would be held simultaneously along with the CFL, might start on 2/3 August with the final likely to be held on 24 August.
