U-16 is pretty much dead, so call AIFF Academy has ruined the players growth. They have been in and out of regular practice. Dont have much expectations from the players.
Thanks a lot @7negi for the info. Lets hope the batches keep on going stronger and stronger and I sincerely have great hopes from U-14 batch. These kids are gonna represent us in world cup and I want them to give a strong intent that we can also excel at world level. Maybe we might see a player or two get selected by foreign youth academies. You never know what will happen
I too agree with @ashlesh and @ashindia about our u16 team. The development of these guys have been hampered badly. First thanks to pailan withdrawing their sponsorship then the Kalyani academy is now being relocated to Goa. Though as @7negi said Anirudh thapa, jerry and nijwim are the brightest of the lot. After having watched team last year in the Asia champions trophy oraganised by frenz fc they were technically lagging way behind hari mau madu juniors.
The future is bright, we have the talents, we just need to find a proper way to hone that talent. Like everyone here has said, the development has been hampered, the AIFF need to find a way to fix this.
Is there a provision for AIFF to make some money when these U-19 Elite Academy players sign up for ISL and I-League clubs? Did the clubs pay transfer money when they signed up former Pailan Arrows players?
When I go for jogging in evening, I see these Aiff academy guys doing some aerobics/yoga on the public play ground outside fatorda. Cant they even find a proper place for these things.
