Yogeswar Dutt should have retired in 2014 itself. It is better to retire when you have Olympic Bronze Medal and Asian/Commonwealth Games Gold. After that injuries were there. HIs qualification from Asian Round was easy-he defeated Vietnamese wrestler there but it is no match for Olympic. His injured old body was huffing and puffing in 3rd minute itself. 4th Olympics of Yogeswar Dutt. He was too young and inexperienced in 2004, he had good tournament in 2008 and 2012 but this one was pathetic and unnecessary Olympics in 2016 for him. In India, sportspersons are not judged on their present form or future potential, just old unfit will hang on based on their past performance. Young wrestlers in India who hero-worship Yogeswar and watch this bout on TV, what impression or confidence they will get?
I think that the thread could be named 'India at Rio 2016: A retrospective' where the expectations, achievements, failures of the Indian contingent can be discussed. The thread would also discuss the reasons for the failures and the steps needed to be taken for an improved performance in the 2020 Olympics. What say, guys?
