there is a requirement of a development player to be part of atleast the bench. given that so many curse this tournament as a private one, ISL ideally need not even want to have development players to be part of the even the draft, but they do keep it and do play them when required. players like jayesh/romeo/jhinghan have been retained and has grown so much more than when they played in i-league.
Limiting squads to 35? Next season, at worst an I-League club will play 21 games! Why do you need 35 players to play 21 games!? Even premier league teams have a senior squad of 21-22 players, yet EB an MB have more! Stockpiling of players certainly an issue.
They stockpile as players raslise that there are maybe only a handful of teams which can offer decent training andmatch ....had we had ileague 1&2 with 16-18 teams each with similar zonal leagues players would have exponentially more professional clubs to choose from....
Not gonna happen under PP/IMG rule...where domestic football is tolerated to earn govt/fifa grants for our owners...
Many domestic coaches have complained for decades now that India wastes a lot of talent while transitioning from U 19 to senior football simply because we do not provide a platform of regular quality game time.......
Hardly the concern of PP though he is happy to have given birth (fill in the blanks)
And definitely not the Pvt circus concern as they hv signed the contract to milk us dry....not for holistically developing domestic ftball.
ISL is like football consultancies same as that of fake consultancies who offer jobs!!! Nothing on name of youth development by the teams , no serious initiative , no foundation stone laid for academies !!!! except one by chennaiyin FC
Aw, come on @Arsenalfan700, ISL clubs cannot evade criticism just because they are just 2 year old. Making age-group teams do not cost a fortune. If they were really serious about the game, they could have done it this years itself, or could have even started with this on last year. Bengaluru FC are doing it, Pune FC, Mumbai FC have this. Even a newbie like Fateh Hyd FC are attempting this, and all of them without any support from the league management. How old are they? I am not considering Shillong Lajong, RWDC or the Mizo clubs, as they are old clubs technically.
I don't subscribe to this idea of getting successful first and then start youth development. It should be simultaneous. Also, the clubs are engaged in community/ social involvement which is much more resource consuming (though paying instantly). And they could very well keep aside a fraction of what they are spending on the old, fat, unfit foreign imports.
For ISL clubs, the intention is not there. They are interested only on the net worth/ market value of themselves.

Nothing stops IMG from increasing the number of foreigners in first XI to 7/8 or even 9.....
We can be sure PP would definitely wont come in the way....
