All these affairs point to the fact that IFA is totally unconcerned about the entire episode. They only wanted to finish the Premier Division somehow & go to hibernation. Media also is totally busy in chamchagiri.... why they don't take these IFA & Club officials to the task ? May be because no body wants to hit a hard target, they only hit at a soft target to keep going.
BTW who is the WB Sports Minister currently! ;;) :P
Regarding Tolly, I wonder why there are so many who always gives example of European league, are not mentioning what happened to Juventus (and the other two clubs) in 2006 - how they got relegated to Serie B!
Would love to get some comments from some of the bigwigs of IFN, who eat-sleep-talk only European league!
Silencing all cynics are the ratings of the Calcutta Football League (CFL) derby match between Mohun Bagan FC VS East Bengal. Aired on Star Inndia’s regional channel Star Jalsha, the derby match garnered highest ever ratings for a CFL match.
Approximately 82,000 spectators were at the edge of their seats in the stadium for the match’s entire 90 minutes duration, while 16.3 lakh people tuned in to Star Jalsha to watch it live. The average time spent was a whopping 58.4 minutes. The match garnered a rating of 4.45 per cent in NCCS 4+, in M 15+ ABC marker the match clocked six per cent ratings while the reach garnered is 10.2 per cent in NCCS 4+.
We all know that the derby has great following and is amongst the biggest in India and maybe even in SEA.....the complaint is that even with such a strong base CFL has been barely able to build a top class product.....here the big 3 have to share as much of the blame as IFA. The CFL barely gathered steam before it was over.... Even the MPL which is still played in Aizawal is better organised and spaced out essentially giving opportunity to talent from smaller clubs to play regular league football over 5 months or so....ironically the biggest loosers of this truncated CFL are the big 2....
IMG + Star = 1 month CFL. On the flip side, you do get a nicely packaged product with good TV coverage, better than I-League. Seems these cahoots are only good at things which lasts a short duration. I would anyday prefer a double legged CFL with DD Sports covering the matches.

Rupayan Bhattacharya is keeping on his incisive reporting of Kolkata football. Though he may be a lone wolf.
