Great ... just great going, the way we are going to nowhere fast (actually to the bottom) ... it is so frustrating it stupefies one ...
Whom to blame? We have two leagues (not going to question if this is ideal or not), interested corporates (maybe not in the number would like), FIFA grants (quite liberal), foreign coaches, Monkey bath from the politicians ... yet the only thing that is consistent is failure.
It is very tempting to blame the clubs for not doing enough, for not having marketing departments, for not having academies, for not having own stadiums ... . But, question is, why would they commit huge money from a non-viable operation? If a club don't move forward, they become MB, champions without any sponsors, if they do they become PFC, shut for good for want of revenues and fans.
Isn't the Federation getting away with too little? Look at the changing scenario: Coaches appointed -- Houghton-Sukhi-Savio-Constantine-, Clubs closed -- Mahindra-JCT-Pune-Fransa-Bharat-Dodsal- all the PSU clubs, Telecast -- Doordarshan-TEN-none now, NT sponsor -- ONGC-Panasonic-none now ... . Hordes of players came and went, no worthwhile youngsters groomed from Fed Academies, the circus authorities actively restraining Indian football to grow. Only thing remains constant: PROFOOL PATEL at top. Constantine will be sacrificed, but Profool will keep on presiding over the rape and destruction. Soon we will stop going down, but only because there won't be any place to go down ...
We would be only fools if we criticize Constantine's (or Houghton's, or Savio's, for that matter) team selection or style of play. If you replace Preetam or Narayan or Passi, or play tiki taka, can you check this downslide? Players looked dog-tired yesterday: why.
It is better to watch the circus and pretend that we have a league second to only EPL ...
Blaming EB and MB actually shows the IQ (lack of it) of so called football fans in India. AIFF is the sole organization responsible for the development and organization of football in teh country and the blame for any failure lie with them, only them and no one else. If they cant do it, they must dissolve, we will get another Fed with better people.
Easy buck passed to ISL despite been only for 2 years while the players playing there are all groomed at grass root level I-league for all these years.
The fact of the matter is no one is questioning the obvious -
1.) What were the AIFF Youth academies churning out all these years? How many are part of the current National team pool?
2.) Pace, Possession, Tactical knowledge has nothing to do with 2 months tournament, Question need to be asked on what i-league coaching has taught them. These are Basics of a footballer.
3.) Despite having Indian coaches why has AIFF gone again to SC? Does that mean AIFF doesnt think homegrown coaches are not good enough at a international stage? If yes then coaching at domestic level is also not up to scratch.
Lets face it, We were in the downside all these years, People just have a new set of excuses for the latest set of defeats.
It is the same team against whom we were churning out wins as recent as 2008 easily.
@EastBengalPride ...I am not blaming any one. I am talking about the people's involvement in a game like football is less in our country. we needs more people's involvement in football otherwise we cant do anything. If we make a pyramid of football organizations it must be like that...I mentioned the position here from top to bottom 1. AIFF 2. I league clubs 3. District level club 4. and lastly the block level coaching center. it is quite easy to jump from 2-3 or 2-4 rather than 1-3 or 1-4.so the club can easily reach the block level position without any hazard and can search the talent quite wisely but its not happen in India.I am a mohun bagani and I will support this team till my last breath it doesn't matter MB win the trophy or not, ... being a die heart fan of MB I wish someday MB will produce a world class player who will lead the country from front and that happiness is quite more than wining a trophy.its not about MB beat EB or EB beat MB ...we have to look beyond this....we have to produce player of world standard its not all about money its all about love ,passion , madness and its all about how badly you need this. I would say no one in this country actually bother about football development be it clubs or the federation or the so called indian football fan ...remember one thing you cant clap with single hand you need both the hand to clap. its the collective effort which give the success .I think you understand what I want to say. btw it doesn't matter what you think, its only matter what I think.
It's a bottom up approach, I-League clubs are not at the bottom of the pyramid, they are very much at the top. A few club academies or an u19 league won't change anything, neither will Ronaldinho playing in ISL. Federation needs to spread the game, work as a consultant to state governments to build infrastructure, create a bottom up footballing eco system which will automatically bring in local investors, have a normal 3 tier pan Indian football calendar. AIFF has failed in every single front and will continue to do so under the current set of nincompoops. Blaming EB MB doesn't make any sense at all. These clubs are the reason why football is still played in India.
Why not blame EB/MB as well as other clubs for this also?
The national team is made up of players from these clubs only isnt it? When they come to play for the NT there are basics that they are supposed to have learnt such as positioning, Tackling, Shielding, Possession etc.You cant expect the NT camp to make em learn these.
Matches each weekend and the training camp during weekdays are when they learn so why make simple mistakes when playing for the NT? Is coaching then not good?
Look at guys like pritam who lacks the basics of a defensive fullback, Jairu who flykicks inside the penalty box etc... composure cannot be taught at NT camps.
Whatever it is, I am convinced Indian players need to learn football basics from white-skinned coaches in two-month long circuses ... Indian coaches and long leagues are shit.
