Hockey turf near YBK are under control of SAI or WB Government? I think they hold Beighton Cup there. In case they need practice Football ground, that needs to be of same surface as YBK.
So they will remove Hockey turf and also remove artificial turf from YBK?

Artificial turf has to be removed otherwise YBK ain't getting the FIFA world cup whatsoever. And teams need to have at least 2 grounds besides the main pitch at every venue. So, this way we will have 6 top quality FIFA approved football stadiums and at least 12 top quality training surfaces.

Question: Is it 4 or 2 training turfs that are required besides the main stadium??

Artificial turf removal decision has been taken and will start after the season in over. They already have a training ground, for the second (2 are needed) they are thinking to remove the Hockey turf of SAI.They may send the hockey turf to Rabindra Sarovar, but probably not in the main stadium.

@7Negi, yes AIFF had zeroed in on the Sarobar stadium few years back when they decided they will take up several stadiums on lease all over the country. The Nehru Stadium (Delhi) deal materialized. For Sarobar, they wanted a longer term lease whereas the state government was willing for only a short term deal. AIFF backed out of the short term deal in apprehension of not getting willing sponsors in a short term scenario.

There may be other reasons also, primary one is that lack of enthusiasm from either sides. Or petty politicking.

Or may be the files are actually active, but at such a slow speed we do not recognize them to be moving.

As per TOI today (print version Delhi edition), the deal is done for handover of Rabindra Sarobar Stadium to AIFF. The WB CM and Mr. Patel had a discussion yesterday in Delhi and it will be formally signed in a couple of weeks. There are also news that the state government may even give the YBK to AIFF for the U-17 World Cup.
