Anyways even if that is to happen things have gotten much more complicated after the arrest of WB sports Minister for applying undue pressure to the Sarada Chit fund owner.

Hopefully it is football only stadium. But, why?? Instead devote that money onto Salt Lake stadium and make it world class. Truly world class and set a benchmark

yea agreed.... rather than having 2-3 mediocre stadiums we should have one top class stadium ... else close salt lake for olympic sports and create a top class stadium in the newly proposed stadium

Why so far again?? I understand that's Gurgaon 2.0 besides Kolkata but who will travel there? :o

I am hoping this has more to do with Atletico Kolkata's youth development plans than it does with the senior team. If it was announced that the Atletico de Kolkata felicitation then it probably has to do with them and if it does have to do with them then why would they play the senior team so far from Kolkata?

Rajarhat, new town are places where you can find acres of land to complete such huge scale projects. Rajarhat is a satellite township modelled like Gurgaon with huge roads and apartments at regular intervals. In current situation it may take a person about 30 mins to reach there in taxi from the Kolkata airport. Network of buses are still so so.

Sounds a good place for an academy rather than stadium.... hopefully they change the plan

Exactly. Seems perfect for an academy. You can probably find the space to create rooming and board for players, a few pitches, and perhaps a headquarter building for Atletico de Kolkata if they want. Will that happen? Who knows but this seems promising.
