@EastBengalPride FIFA gives money and rest amount Association has to collect from TV, Sponsors etc. Tax payer money already spent in building the stadiums. if we do not utilise the stadiums by organising tournaments, that will be greater waste of money.
I dont agree that only the above stated cities should be given the World cup. This world cup is given to India and not Kolkata, Goa, Kerala, Guwahati. Every city in the country has equal right to the matches of the WC.Obviously, these pockets where football is popular should be given preference. But!!
About the new Rajarhat Stadium, I would like you guys to know that WB Government is not constructing the stadium. The new stadium will be constructed with ATK at the helm of the project. Government is only gonna provide land for this. And anyways, its still a long way to go for that. Its not feasible now. BUT, ATK doing correct. Getting the land from the government now cause it will be cheaper. When the area settles and the costs increase, then it will be difficult. Its better to BUY and WAIT.
Once cost of land increases, you will find big residential project there. So no point giving ATK unless they willing to start construction within 1 year. Remember, its India.
Agree, its India and it is also the West Bengal government but the same things were said about the ISL not long ago and now look. Same with Bengaluru FC. Money speaks and if ATK is willing to spend it then it will get done.
The West Bengal CM will go to jail if the probe stays on track I hope! And why would this land be gifted away, ATK should pay market fees for such property, this is nothing but another scam by didi!
WB Govt cannot just dole out land in New Town, they can (at best preferentially) allocate land to a private party. The buyer will have to get the land at market price. Even sweeteners like deferred payment, interest waiver may hit roadblock by the baboodom.
If ADK, or whoever, wish to locate themselves in New Town, they will have to brace for a long haul.
Parth Jindal, CEO of the club, said, “We are hoping to get the state government’s clearance to re-build the football stadium and start work by the middle of next year. We have worked hard to get the Sree Kanteerava Stadium refurbished. We have also opened various club membership possibilities for the people. We hope to get all the support and do just as well as we did last year.”
When asked why they should not buy a chunk of land and build a new stadium, Parth said, “If clearances don’t come, that will be an option. However, we will not get land within the city limits. We will have to look in the outskirts.”
Work is going on at the new stadium with 5,000 bucket seats being installed to swell the count to 10,000. The ground should be ready as soon as the team gets back from the Federation Cup. I would like to thank the director of the Kanteerava Stadium and the DYES for all their support, without which this would not be possible.”
“We have PUMA as our kit sponsors and SAP has joined us as our technological partner for the new mobile application that we are about to launch. This is going to be a historic season for us since we’re defending the I-League and with the new stadium. We hope we have a good one,” Parth further said.
The CEO also revealed that tickets for the 2014-15 I-League season will go on sale in the coming days and will be available for prices between Rs 30 and Rs 600. “It will be the same as last year and I am sure we will have a packed stadium for our games,” Parth concluded.
