Greenfield Stadium is now green. Work still progressing though to make it more green.

Lovely stadium and no doubt it shall be even better when complete but bloody hell, that cricket circle design pisses me off... we need a football only stadium!

No doubt an IPL team will probably be started to play in that stadium... there should be.

The Maracana has a circular design and is one of the most cherished venues of football. Having said that, I also prefer a football specific rectangular stadium. I though hate athletic stadiums which are a waste of money in a country where athletic competition comes to a stadium once in 20 years.

The Maracana is less circular than you think:

The fans are still close to the action at the Maracana with maybe some exceptions on the goal sides. Greenfield looks to have a terrible view.

I still believe the model we should follow for stadiums is what San Jose recently built. Not so big but not so small with the atmosphere being great. I also don't mind the athletic stadiums as much as we have examples of good ones, like the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama.

There is a significant change in the above picture from this one. Possibly modified to the above for the world cup.

Ya, it was revamped and you can probably guess why it was revamped.

Athletics stadium shape is Elliptical which is better then circular Cricket shape as far as football is concerned. Also one problem of playing Football in Cricket stadium is that best seats in cricket stadium (Pavilion and Corporate boxes around it) are not the best seats viewing purposes for Football. So a Corporate box for cricket will be less attractiove to watch football. In athletics, best seats are where 100 meters race is run and those are also best places to watch football in the same stadium.
Ideally cricket and football should be played in separate stadiums but in this greenfield stadium, they have to generate revenues. lets see how this experiment goes through in coming years!!!

Where will they put commentary and media box?

North zone kept for cricket while the East zone is for football. Each zone
will be equipped with all high-tech facilities like players’ lounge,
    gymnasium, media center, stock room.

Ya, for revenue. Using the boxes behind the goals sound okay and I am sure the ISL commentators will be experienced in commentating from cricket pitches before.

Corporate boxes for the most part don't matter, doubt many go for the game but for the "luxury experience bollocks" anyway.
