@sam Even Dodsal Group aka Mumbai Tigers was planning to build a stadium in Mumbai where U-17 World Cup and India NT games can be organised. Bayern Munich was supposed to build an academy in West Bengal many years ago.
Kuch Hua??? In India, it is very easy to throw up some lollypop for fake mileage.
Any foundation stone laying ceremony, if attended by the politicos, is an exercise of PR (by the concerned politico), nothing more. Believe only if you see something concrete coming up.
The government shouldn't spend tax payers money on stadiums. At the most, they can provide land to the clubs on lease where the clubs can be asked to create infrastructure.
The government is supposed to what the populace wants, its frikkin elected by them. So people in Bengal shout for a football stadium, we will get it. Another option would be rebuild/renovate Rabindra Sarobar stadium.
@atuljg When you give Taxpayer land and money to private party to build anything, that also means that we are spending tax payer money. Example Transtadia Ahmedabad
There is one Howrah Municipal Corporation Stadium also where once AFC Cup games were also organised. I hope one day they develop it also.
