There is one Cricket Stadium at nearby Panchkula where ICL matches were held. It is a beautiful ground with floodlights. If it can be converted into Football also, it will be great. Constructing new stadium is very difficult as Football is not high in priority list there.
Tau devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula This stadium has Australia feel to it. Stands are temporary which can be aligned for Football specifications and lot of Grass area to lie down. Great Floodlights also. Since ICL was scrapped, no serious Domestic Cricket is being played in this stadium as Haryana has other stadiums. If Chandigarh can get access to this stadium, it will be great.
Tala Municipality, in the Northern suburb of Tala, have decided to build a football stadium at Tala Park with the help of the State Government. Recently the plans have been forwarded to GoWB for getting approvals. As it happens, they have made the proposal more grand by incorporating an athletic track around the field, thus making the stadium composite.
Though the government is in the process of approving it, concerns are being raised by the local people regarding a massive enclosed structure in the middle of the public park, which is the only urban lung of the area.
Is Tala Park big enough to give rise to a football stadium? I feel a stadium will completely destroy the park and there would be almost no space left after the allocating space for stadium. And I dont think there is any space left outside the park or periphery of the park that could be used for the stadium.
