@Abhishek....That's why I said a good coach.. But this kind of tinkering system does not work for india.Atleast new coach have the chance to build up the team. Obviously Aiff always think about cut money coaches
Stimach is responsible. Its just history repeating itself. Bob left after laying foundations Koevarmance could not build upon it. You may argue with whatever point you have but Stefan Constantine gave us hope and our display in AFC Asian Cup 2019 was by far best in near past. Igor is ruining it again. Hope we can blame everything to covid and lockdown and improve in 3rd round. We need to get rid of Bheke. In past I have fought for many player and do not believe blaming an individual in a team game but Bheke even overtook Higuen in terms of embarrassment (if I do not use the term 'let his team down'). I have not seen this Subhasis Bose against China or in AFC Cup. He is a shadow of himself. Habas brought him from Mumbai and opted over Rathi who was superb last season, played both CB and LB. Do not understand at all. As per me Apuia needs to be in the team. Suresh just run here and there. Manveer not only missed chances but could have been sent off if referee watched his act. We desperately need to be back playing 4-4-2 with two speedy wing half. Udanta's bad form costs us big. Ashique is still reliable but Bipin a big no for me. We need to re asses Glan and give Thapa / Sahal some chances. Only Jhingan, Sana pair, Brandon's set piece and ability to pick pass could be our consolation from this match.
Just a general question - would any one having, expressing their opinion with so much knowledge about the game, tactics - coaching - like to take over as NT head coach and show better results than this - in the next cycle? From this group - not who is outside of this group. I would like to hear more from those who are interested. Well NT is may be a too much of an ask, would you like to take over U17 team and make them as good as what Bibliano has achieved? I would like to hear more on that pls ...
Bang average match by both teams however Afghanistan was better of the two. Questionable decisions by Stimac on approach to game, chettri substitution and selections.
Leaving this aside the quality of football on display by our footballers is extremely worrying/frustrating/irritating. Jhingan, Bose, Behke cannot move the ball ahead without shooting, It would have been okay against Qatar/Oman but even Afghanistan these guys cannot play the ball or have the confidence to move it. Coming to attack there is not a single player who can even come close to hitting the target forget scoring, every time it has to be chettri.
Lot of changes need to be made from AIFF/FSDL starting with coach to see any remarkable improvement in Indian football. I have been following Indian football since 2006 at fag end of Asia Cup qualifiers and I have not seen any change or improvement to date !
As for me, the problem is the ideology of the coach is not clear. I am still confused as to what is he trying to do(It's neither lobbing the ball forward strategy- Bob Houghton or counter attacking strategy- Constantine).
We are definitely not playing possession football not tiki-taka because we don't have the players.
We have improved immensely in our defence and defensive structure(we have lost by a maximum of 1 goal in all our matches) but the real problem is our midfield(defensive is okay but attacking is pathetic) and forward line.
We lack imagination, skill, speed, finishing everything..
Moreover, we take too many unnecessary touches to make a simple pass that too mostly backwards which kills the momentum of the move..
Only PUIA seems to have that extra second on the ball, looks composed, confident has got decent positioning and decent passing. Looks like the overall package. Definitely needs to be invested upon
Rest like Brandon,Sahal,Suresh and Glan have got one decent attribute like Brandon(Set piece specialist), Sahal(dribbling), Suresh(Engine), Glan(tackling). We need a combination of all these skills in our players rather than single skill. The day we find players like PUIA(combination of skills) ,we will improve in our attacking play as well.
Similarity, the forwards need to have a combination of skills(need not be excellent in all of them but should be good or minimum be decent in these skills). The problem is that we are bad in most of these skills and on top of that we lack, confidence, composure, our understanding of the game(when to pass forward, when to pass back, when to shoot, when to pass, when to look for a free kick etc) are extremely poor.
And as far I see, our youth players will bring the change.
The current U-17 team has really good players like Sridarth, Himanshu,Shubho, Raisin ,Maheson as I had earlier pointed out. Do, these players should be breaded in as soon as possible(at the right time). It is a shame that AFC cup was cancelled as it would have given them a great chance to showcase their talent and possibly qualify for the World Cup
Moreover, which each passing batch the general quality of the players w.r.t previous batch is definitely improving in my opinion. So, youth teams are our only hope as far as I can see.

What an achievement!
By the way, only 2 or 3 teams from this 39 won't make it to 3rd round.
