FIFA identified India as a possible host of U-17 WC in 2017 or 2019. If India can manage to build minimum seven world class stadiums then FIFA will give their green signal. It will be a great boost for Indian football as we will get a direct entry and also infrastructure will develop rapidly.

The cooperage would not have more than 15-20 k capacity as there is hardly any space around it. matter of fact, the pitch itself is quite small compared to international standards (dunno abt the new one being laid)

And I have serious doubts over the proposed stadiums by Dempo and churchill

Third point, Rabindra Sarovar Stadium is kinda in outskirts where spectators will have trouble reaching n coming back. Also I am not sure whether there are any 5star hotels around it

Both are quite different cases, Mr Churchill has already acquired the land while Mr Dempo has signed up a deal with transtadia to build 30k stadia(<a class="postlink" href="http://www.transstadia.com/content/pdfs/Dempo_set_to _break_new _ground.pdf">http://www.transstadia.com/content/pdfs ... ground.pdf)

YBK is already under renovation for 2-September international friendly.Because it has to be accredited by AFC before a FIFA international friendly.

There is difference between requirements for a friendly match and an Official FIFA tournament.

There is a news doing rounds that FIFA has almost awarded the U17 World Cup 2017 hosting to India. We will try to confirm the news ASAP.
This will mean at least 7-8 truly Worlds Class Stadiums in the country.
It is to be noted that FIFA had urged AIFF in June this year to bid for either 2017 or 2019 U17 World Cup
