Pune fc are trying to be Borussia dortmund with youngsters playing on an average budget. and a odd good foreign player.
Borussia took 5-6 years to peak ..so PFC fans wait ... a couple of losses dont mean end of the road.. its about implemeting good footballing culture ..trophies can wait for 3-4 years
Ya but at the same time that is not where they want to be (at least during the summer). I bet that in the summer the goal was just to finish respectably in mid-table but now all of a sudden they find themselves as the #2 professional team behind Bengaluru FC, our rep in the AFC Champions League, and in a good top position because former top greats could not keep up.
All this extra pressure was added on Pune FC and while they could handle it in November, in December it showed that they could not. They do not have an I-League championship side, they have a potential one.
Their potential is good, the current squad are not the best, but if they keep doing what they are doing they will get more chances in the ACL and then they will be better.

but here the problem is they dont have fan support of dortmund( i feel they got more chair fans who just say pfc are best thaan fans who come to stadium) and more importantly they need a manager eho can get best of them and definiteely mije isnt him.. bfc manager has been able to make his young players match level of seniors and pfc need coach with mixture him and derrick
I have been observing Pune FC for last few seasons. They are a mid-table team. But they always had 5-6 matches in hands till the last month of I-league due to problems in Pune stadium availability (political etc.) So they do very well in those extra 5-6 games in last month and come from middle of the league to top 4 spot. Its because of Pune Fc or because I-League is already decided and relegation teams are also decided and other teams have less motivation to play for. Never seen Pune FC dominating in any league or any tournament. Just average.

Either that or they are just being pushed forward by a foreigner. James Moga and Mandjou Keita were goal machines for the club... take them out and watch them fall.
We always keep saying PFC is a developing team with young academy players. But I think its always gonna be a young team and not a developing team since most of the academy players will leave by 21/22 yrs. Then they bring in more youngsters to replace them, since none of the good players will stay on for this palty salary of a few thousands per month. Anybody can clarify if this is how its going to carry on.

Tough to tell. The Pune Academy is only like 2 years old now and already they have eight players who have come up from the Academy who are only in their first seasons in the first team. The oldest Academy player is 20 year old Gobin Singh (March 1993).
We cant say much till a few seasons from now. So far they are doing well. Amrinder Singh is now #1 and doing well for a 20 year old keeper, Haokip at the age of 20 has 20 goals and is a regular off the bench, Fanai is playing more, Kadam is slowly becoming a fan favorite, while Ranjan is now starting to play more himself.
