Tim Samuels - a confirmed football fan and award-winning reporter - travels to Pune, one of India's fastest growing cities with a burgeoning manufacturing and entrepreneurial sector. He visits Pune FC, in India's premier league, meets the players, and their Dutch manager and goes to a premier league match. Tim learns who watches football and hears about the sport's allure in a country traditionally enamoured with cricket. He also meets another football team, one made up of dalits, who can only aspire to the big time
Worst journalism by BBC in a long time. ..had some agenda and wanted to pitch it along the lines of class divide. Tried to bring some favela-slum angle to Indian football. Most National team players, especially Northeastern and majority of CFL league players come from pretty impoverished background. The guys ahown from that Sakhai FC in Pune are juat not good enough for PFC Acadmey amd neither would they have genuine ages. The best player's in Maharashtra come from Mumbai and Kolhapur or even Nagpur...Kadam isn’t local !!
All the "fans" at PFC games are bussed in for free and the poor location of stadium in relation to city / population means no one will come to the games like they do in Shillong, Banglore , Kolkata or Aizawl
