3 things from this video.
1) I'm still not sure what Subrata was doing with his knee so far up above the ground
2) Subrata's knee hit the striker's hands and then grazed his side, but when the striker fell to the ground he was holding his balls. Isn't that an automatic red card to him? I'm not even sure Subrata deserved a red, just a yellow for a dangerous move.
3) Subrata said something to the striker immediately after the incident that motivated him to get up immediately forgetting his injury, and he didn't show any discomfort again until 2 minutes later after he had comfortably walked out of the D.
i was waiting to hear frm u suneer..hw was it like?
wat did the uae fans hav to say abt ref?
They might have given lakhs of dirhams to that f***ng referee. he killed the game, our day and football.............
Our boys played more than 70 minutes with 9 and our defenders played well with confident. instead of just clearing the ball they did passig game in our box and then cleared the ball. it was toooo amazing......and we made a couple of chances as well......so why we cannot expect a 3-0 victory in our fav ground with thousands of fans????
i think AIFF should protest the red card and apply for a rematch. Its not the first time. Earlier also in 2006 WC qualifying the uzbekistan and bahrain game was replayed due to an error by referee. Here is the FIFA report about the incident
"
FIFA confirmed today that the result of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany qualifying match between Uzbekistan and Bahrain on 3 September 2005 has been declared invalid and must be replayed. In order to respect the drawn order of the matches, the first leg is to be replayed in Uzbekistan on 8 October 2005, with the second leg match to be rescheduled for 12 October 2005 in Bahrain.
The decision was taken by the Bureau of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany Organising Committee following a formal protest from the Uzbekistan Football Federation concerning a technical error by the referee of the match.
According to Art. 12.4 (b) and 14.1 of the Regulations for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, all protests, including those against technical errors committed by referees, are to be decided by the Organising Committee for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany. A bureau of the Organising Committee may pass a decision in lieu of the plenary committee in urgent matters.
The Bureau, composed of Chairman Lennart Johansson, Deputy Chairman Julio Grondona, Dr Chung Mong Joon and FIFA General Secretary Urs Linsi, took the decision based on the following facts:
1) At the score of 1-0 in favour of Uzbekistan, in the 39th minute of the match, the referee decided to award a penalty kick to Uzbekistan;
2) The penalty kick was taken and led to goal in favour of Uzbekistan;
3) Before the penalty kick was carried out, an Uzbek player entered the penalty area;
4) Consequently, the referee awarded an indirect free kick to the Bahrain team;
5) However, in such a situation, the Laws of the Game require the referee to order the penalty kick to be retaken;
6) The captain of Uzbekistan team protested to the referee immediately after the mistake had taken place and before the game had restarted. This protest was confirmed after the match;
7) This technical error was confirmed by the match commissioner and the referee inspector in their respective reports;
8) Uzbekistan protested the decision of the referee in a written request, asking for the match to be "cancelled" and be evaluated with a 3-0 forfeit result;
The bureau, taking into consideration that the referee in the match in question had indeed committed a technical error, established that, as a consequence, the match needed to be replayed. As a result, the protest put forward by the Uzbekistan team for the match to be considered a forfeit with a 30 result is rejected. In accordance with Art. 12.6 of the Regulations 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany, this decision is final and binding.
But we must be proud of what our team achieved today. Conceding just one goal playing with 9 men for a very long duration is a sign of our will & determination.
he got frustated bcoz of that Red card only
Exactly. But for the blatant red card to Debabrata, he wouldnt have behaved that way! Bloody Ref! Just killed the game. We were playing such a nice passing game!!!
Even if he is frustated he has to take some responsibility as because he is after all a senior player. moreover he shouldnot allow frustration to overcome his decision making ability.
(N.B.- Played as a devil advocate. No hard feelings against Subrata)
AIFF should raise an official protest ASAP.Both the red cards were harsh.The second penalty decision was amazing because subrata was totally in control of the ball and his raised knee did not even touch the UAE player.It could have been a yellow card but spot kick was atrocious decision.I am proud of Indian team.Way they played with 9 men against superior UAE was awesome.

the game should be played in fair way......fifa/afc had given qatari a chance to take revenge on the team which defeated his home team.......now let a lebenon ref be given a chance in similar way.....we can guarentee you a better result than 3-0....
