Medeira has been with most of these same NT players for 4-5 years then why did it take this long for him to realize they are useless?

The defeat has left India's coach Medeira seething. He has called for an overhaul of the national team if India desires to match, or even come remotely close, to the kind of football that Zambia played.

"We cannot match Zambia's standards with this team. You could see that we are lacking in pretty-much everything. This team cannot do any better than what they did today," said the India coach.
"If we are to come close to Zambia, not just in rankings but also the play, we have to unearth new talent and look at the grassroots. We need to start building a team for the future, we need to start afresh.

"This result is a setback, I must agree, but, if you look at this differently the players would have realized that they were up against a real classy team. That will do their confidence some good," said Medeira, who lost his first game since taking over as coach.

Medeira admitted after the match, India had no positives to take from the match. The defence was in shambles right through, the midfielders were closed out of play and none of the four strikers used in the game seemed to have any clue of what they had to do when with the ball.

So ya basically... WE ARE GOING TO LOSE! How could this happen. We started the 2011 season at the AFC Asian Cup with a new look and a hope of improving and will now most likely now end with a dismissal in the SAFF Cup. We go from losing to Australia and South Korea to now most likely losing to Maldives.

It was enough of Savio to not include Lalkamal, Victorino, Kuttimani, Manandeep Vineeth, and Pradhan and then at the same time allow Sushil Singh in the team but to now release guys like Baldeep Singh who was our Man of the Match against Malaysia, along with Baljit Sanhi who even though can't score can still shoot is just plain suicide.

I am sorry but I can't see us winning when Second Division players Govin Singh and Sushil Singh are also in the squad.

Heres to hope that Savio is sacked after the SAFF Cup.

By the way for the Houghton haters... with Houghton India is 20 wins, 5 draws, and 20 losses while with India. Ever sense his sacking we are 2 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses. Ya Bob was the man but we sacked him and look at where we are.

Bob may have been hated but he knew how to get the best out of watever team he picked...the way he picked an unimpressive but young squad for afc challenge cup qualifiers and got us to top the group was amazing...and best of all he gave immediate senior team debuts to raju, jeje, shilton, jewel etc and we can see how jeje and raju immediately established themselves..he got he best out of subrata as well and under him chhetri, subrata, gouramangi all went for trials to foreign leagues

Exactly. People who hated him were to influenced by places like goal.com who said he kept up the "long ball". FOR FUCKS SAKE! The long ball is not that bad people. When I watch my Arsenal or when I watch Man U, Barca etc I always see a few long balls per match and I've seen them go straight to the opposing keeper.

But! I do think after actually giving it some thought when at school yesterday, what if the reason Armando did not do well was because he had the old Houghton regime (assistant coach etc.). While the old Houghton regime was a good it was still one used to practicing long balls, which is fine but Armando wanted to get rid of that and use only the ground. That style Bob's old boys probably did not know so they were most likely useless. Basically if Armando had the coaches of his choosing he may have done better.
