16 teams is too much. It will be a big problem. Instead, we should try and reach 10 teams first, establish football culture and then think about pro/rel in future. 2 more teams could be added from bangalore, hyderabad. Then play with these teams for 3-4 years and then again add 2 teams if necessary. Just dont't add I league clubs like eb,mb. They have contributed a lot I agree, but then there will again be 3 teams from kolkata which I dont want. 1 team from a city is enough.
Kolkata fans can certainly sustain a 3rd & a 4th and maybe a 5th team. ..BUT
East Bengal has chit fund problem to pay its players...as did UTD SC who "disbanded". Mohd sporting have a history of financial woes and Mohun Bagan are no better in professional approach to this issue.
None of these clubs have addressed other issues too. Pune FC might not have fans ...but tick a lot of other boxes. ..and the new Pune Bharath forge guys have locked in the amazing facilities at DSK for training ground...and whilst they too won't get Kolkata fans numbers...they should tick a lot of other boxes...
So... Wim is gone and obviously the solution is more than just hiring another head coach and/or a technical director so... what is the next step for Indian football in the Indian Super League era?
