Chirag Tanna You will not get good footballers from academies till there is a good competition where they can showcase their talent... Even in the I-League you have 31 Indian players per team which means totally 341 Indian players... If you include Division 2 that is another 310 Indian players... In a country of 1.2 billion people, ONLY 650 footballers get to showcase themselves on a national platform... There may be thousands of footballers who maybe exceptionally talented who are not even getting an opportunity to show how good they are! Once this 650 becomes 6500 will you see our ranking improve.
That is what I would see as the most feasible option. I did not want to use this convo as a way to get my ideas out but to get the overall forums opinion but IMO, if a proper state league structure is to be created then it would need to start around 2018-2020... plenty of time to start something.
As for pro/rel... well, that depends on a lot of factors and also what happens between the ISL and I-League. Overall though, we would get a proper FA Cup style league from this... maybe have the final be on Republic Day.
for u17 WC stadium is being built ..will those stadium not get used for i-league in future? and those stadium will be of FIFA standard so by 2017 infrastructure will improve ..but instead of improving state league first aiff should first improve 2nd div i-league so that the players are performing well in national games and state league could recruit those player and if they perform well in I league 2nd div ..they again can be recruited by i-league club....but first they should have proper 2nd div which run for 6-7 month ...and federation cup shud be played in home away manner where in 1st round 2nd div club will play with premiere team like it is happening in england i.e man u vs Leeds utd same way we can see here bfc vs bhawanipore fc
The major issue with the current state league system is decentralized rules...
like goa have a league with age group teams playing of I-league teams while few leagues cant afford foreigners while few play as many foreigners as available at national league....
This results in lack of parity and thus results in difference in quality too... the state leagues also should be divided into 2 or 3 levels with first level consisting of best 5 competitive state leagues then next tier would be consisting of 6-8 state leagues and last tier would consist of remaining state leagues...
The top most tier shall be allowed to field 2 foreigners with minimum of 2 u-23 player next tier be decreased to 1 foreigner and 2 u-23 player and last tier should be restricted from signing foreign players with fielding of 3 u-23 players..
The leagues shall be shuffled in system on the basis of the organization of league and the level of betterment in quality with the funding created by the owners of the league... once the third tier league say Andhra Pradesh league shows promise with few clubs having financial muscle to improve quality of team in turn of the league shall be promoted to 2nd tier..
This would mean not all leagues have to feel pressure of buying foreigners and but a hole in their pocket unless there are a certain no of parties involved in the league shows their interest in doing so...
Also for a team to participate in the league their league needs to be at least in mid tier state leagues and should have a venture having profitability of over 60 crores per annum...
In this way the teams would be forced to improve the quality of the league in their region too..
I like this... I like this a lot. However, it would be hard to implement around 30 leagues and 3 divisions but perhaps it can happen. I like the tiering of leagues, something very unique and original.
first let's have 2 division properly if its maintained well then we can go for 3rd division ...I'm giving stress in 2nd div bcoz I would like to see 2nd div more professional than the premiere league of Nepal Pakistan Bangladesh and whole subcontinent and player from saff nation means their NT players play in 2nd div ...I want to see their best player play in our 2nd div not 1st div ...same like in EPL where best of Scottish and Irish only can make championship team and England player plays in EPL ..
The best Irish teams are probably equal to that of League Two/Conference. Other than Celtic, the best of Scotland are probably lower tier Championship and more League One.
Either way, I don't see India being able to sustain a proper 2nd Division, especially if the Indian Super League is given priority as they would not use pro/rel. Maybe, depending on how the state leagues develop, we could start something like a 2nd Division but that would take years... 20-30.
don't say that for Scotland ...Jordan Rhodes is being looked by EPL teams apart from that grant Henley is captain of Blackburn rovers plus there are other Scottish player who plays for top championship club....anyway if isl merge with i-league in next 5 yrs we can have proper 2nd div in next 7-8 yrs 20-30 is too much ...a lot if thing will change after u17 WC ... I can see drastic change if India perform well in u17 WC by performing well doesn't mean winning the cup but by upsetting the rival in one match or holding them for a draw or at best reaching 2nd round and of course we will have at least 5 world class stadium of FIFA standard. I feel we will have very good chance for qualifying 2023 Asian cup ...as well as 2019 if little luck swungs our way ...that 24 spot shit should help India...
Just because their are a few Scottish players in the Premier League and Championship does not make the Scottish Premiership on par with the Championship. Its like saying the MLS is on par with the lower tier of the Premier League or the upper tier of the Championship because we have plenty of players that go there.
