    Pesta Sukan Cup 1971

The standard of teams is unclear. Malaysia apparently used a team of players who had not
appeared in the Merdeka Tournament in Malaysia immediately prior to this tournament in
Singapore. South Korea's team was the same squad from the Merdeka Tournament, and certainly
    not their full national team.

All matches were played at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

    Quarterfinals
23- 8-71 India 2-1 Indonesia (some sources erroneously report the score as 3-1)
               [Goals: Habib x2 / ?.]
    23- 8-71 Malaysia 2-2 Singapore (5-4 pen)
[Note: Malaysian goalkeeper Ali Osman saved four penalties]
    24- 8-71 Thailand 1-0 Philippines
24- 8-71 South Vietnam 1-0 South Korea XI
               [Goal: 87']

    Semifinals
    26- 8-71 India 6-0 Malaysia
    26- 8-71 South Vietnam 2-1 Thailand

    Final
28- 8-71 India 0-0 South Vietnam (AET, title shared)

    Consolation Semi-finals
    27- 8-71 Singapore 3-2 Indonesia
27- 8-71 South Korea XI 3-1 Philippines (also reported 3-2)

    Consolation Final

AIFF budget for 2023-24 season is increased by more than 50%. For 2022-23 season,  it was 87 cr and for current season,  it would be 134 cr and it's a good thing for Indian football across all age groups.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Tuesday passed a budget of Rs 134 crore -- an increase of nearly 50 crore from last year -- for 2023-24 during its Annual General Meeting in Bengaluru.

The AIFF budget for 2022-23 was Rs 87 crore, which its general secretary Shaji Prabhakaran had termed "meagre" for a big country like India.

Or as immediate fix they could also make state league have u-20 player requirements and fund them better. GPL, MPL, KPL, CFL teams should field like 4 u-20 players on the field and have no foreign players at all. This will immediately increase the youth pool and the quality will suffer. But after few 2-3 seasons we will start seeing results. Also something Indian football does not do is incentivize a club for having youth coaches/infrastructure. With this extra money. If any of the above state league/I-league 2nd division clubs participating in it have their own training facility, coaches and pass club licensing their expenses should be covered partially/fully based on some max limit. This will encourage all clubs to have their own coaches/facilities. The cost of youth development is not super high as we think. Youth coaches in India are not getting paid high. the facilities depends on the location. If AIFF foots the bill for such initiatives more coaches will get jobs and more players get exposure over time. Also, the winners of state leagues should be granted direct entry to Durand/Fed Cup. Participation fee should be a little higher than what we pay now. We need to give them enough opportunities to earn extra money or simply clubs will be reluctant to do this.

A conference like system only makes sense if the no. of teams in a league exceeds 24+. In such a case 2 groups of 12 teams each can be formed and they can play in league format and top 4 from each group can go on for play off. In this scenario each team will play a minimum 22 games at least. But if total teams are only 15-16 then conference system will mean each club gets 14 matches only. Thats too less. Cost will have to be cut somewhere else. You cannot fuck around with our main national league. I am happy though that all 5 new clubs are allowed entry. It will mean the likes of Komal Thatal, Sridharth, Bidyanand Singh etc will get much needed game time.

But question is will Komal, Sridarth and Bidya be ready to play for only 5-6 months season with monthly salary of 60-70k(that too if it’s a financially stable club, budget could be much lower for rest of them )??
