I still think we sudnt waste money on a big name...rather use the money in infrastructure and youth development...I mean even if we choose our best XI and get a good tactician, there's a limit till the current crop of players can take us...2018 WC is not possible...gets first get into Asian cup by proper qualifiers....
If we have better players coming, then we can invest on a big coach

Do you think after india wining the cwc any parents will send their children to football so we need a big name just to increase the media attention and this in turn will bring in turn a few players

All Big Names to be Rejected Straight away

The reports of the two Rudis — Voller and Krul, both legendary players as well as managers — being linked to the post of the coach of Indian football team surely sound exciting. And if the All India Football Federation (AIFF) officials are to be believed, a dozen such high-profile managers have expressed interest in the job. However, in all likelihood none of those top candidates will be short-listed, let alone appointed, for interviews by the AIFF.
Reason? They are way over the budget allocated for Bob Houghton’s replacement. “Honestly, we were all surprised by the response we have got. Some of the candidates who have applied have vast experience in coaching and are really famous. While Voller never sent his CV, we got applications from people of his stature and more,” said an AIFF official.

It is learnt that among many, former Argentina coach Jose Pekerman is also one of the applicants. The other name that has been linked to the job since December last year is that of Frenchman Philippe Troussier, who coached Japan at the 2002 World Cup.

The problem, however, is that most of these high-profile names, which the AIFF claims have applied, have demanded salary in excess of one million dollars. The AIFF’s budget is not more than what they had for Houghton, i.e. $360, 000. “Hence, we have already replied back to most of them (the applicants) making them aware of the situation,” the official added.

So, the AIFF will probably go for a coach who has an experience of managing an Asian side rather than a big name. The appointment will most likely be finalised in June. The process of going through the CVs has already begun and the short-listed candidates will be called for an interview after AIFF’s executive committee meeting, which is expected to be held in the last week of this month, the official informed.

Well, I would say this would be very wise move by AIFF. Shows that they have started to put in some sort of thinking. I believe, paying huuuge money to big names at the moment is not worth it. The big coaches wth experience in WC UEFA Cup etc will not solve our problems. We are at a stage where we dont have good youth league and no channels to create reserve pool of talented players. These high profile coaches will get frustrated with the kind of situation prevailng here. We should wait another 3-4 years and carry on with a moderately successful coach. By that time we will have pro I-league in place and all clubs will have youth dev. programs hopefully

I always said to give the new members in AIFF sometime to let them settle and they will improve the condition of football in india although they a bit slower than what I expected.

If the AIFF is looking out for an asian coach with WC cup experience & with annual salary of less than the half amount they paid to Bob then why not with kim Jong-Hun, the WC 2010 coach of DPR Korea. He will be glad to take this opportunity & so also AIFF can be 100% sure for his complete loyalty to them (as he mentioned in an interview that he took all tactical decisions from their leader through an invisible mobile invented by his leader himself). If the AIFF is really interested then he could be found in one of the coal mines of North Korea. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->
