WTF!! AIFF needs to be ashamed not to have this kind of marketing done for the I-league.

Star Sports on Thursday appointed Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as brand ambassador to promote Premier League football in India.

A Manchester United fan, Dhoni will invite fans to ‘Join the Game’ in a new campaign which will be launched early next week.

This news comes on the back of the sports broadcaster announcing the launch of Hindi commentary for the first time on Premier League. The Hindi commentary will be in addition to the English commentary and will be available for over 100 live matches across the season.

Speaking on the occasion, ESPN Software India Pvt. Ltd. chief operating officer Vijay Rajput said: “We are delighted to have M.S. Dhoni come on board as the brand ambassador for Premier League in the country. We are targeting to expand the fan base of the football league in India by leveraging the iconic power and fan following of Dhoni to attract cricket fans to sample Premier League.”

Speaking on the association, Dhoni said: “I am an avid Premier League fan and I just played out a real situation in front of the camera. If I am not busy with cricket, I am always busy with Premier League during weekends. Football is extremely exciting and very close to my heart. I was a goalkeeper during my school days. Even today, I play football as a warm-up game ahead of key cricket matches.

“I feel that Indian sports fans should consume different types of sports. I want them to be passionate about cricket but at the same time one needs to give respect to other disciplines as well. It is critical to spread the message of overall sports development and promotion in the country.”

AIFF is already cash strapped, getting top cricketers like Dhoni is not cheap...and then how good is your product? The campaign has to be related with the value of the product....yes Dhoni will bring people, then they see 5 rounds and will immediately disappear...you can over hype a film or something like that as getting people to see 1 time might suffice, but for a long term product hyping when its inherent value is low makes no sense....

Can anyone provide me the link to get the complete I-League Fixture ?
It was a surprise to know that Mumbai Tigers FC v East Bengal Round 1 fixture doesn't have a date. So rescheduling of matches starts from Round 1 itself !!!
Anyway anything can be expected from AIFF and especially Kushal Das-Sunanda Dhar duo !!
You have a detailed fixture of Federation Cup released only a few days back.... and now even the format is reverted to the old type !!
You have Arrows included and then thrown out !!!
You will shortly have a Circus tournament for which AIFF can kill its own Developmental Team !!
AIFF President wishes for a dedicated Football Stadium in Kolkata, Goa, Kochi, Delhi but he never wishes for a dedicated team in AIFF working committee.
Arrows can be thrown away but the deadly duo of Kushal Das & Sunanda Dhar will remain without any positive contribution.
God Save the Indian Football.
@AKB Mumbai Tigers vs East Bengal Round 1 fixture doesn't have a date because East Bengal have the much important AFC Cup matches on 17th & 24th Sempember and the 1st round of I-league is on 21st Sept.

@Joyptan<;/font> I know that, but that does not justify keeping the date column blank. AIFF could have slotted in a date after the AFC matches rather than taking an easy option of delaying a decision. After all these guys are paid to use their brain even occasionally, they will take a decision when they can not escape and may force EB to play 2 games within 3-4 days one at Kolkata and one at Pune.

Anyway Good Luck for the AFC matches.
After the AFC Cup matches next round of I-league matches start and because of IMG league the schedule is already cramped. AIFF will put the match probably after IMG league. Some more matches will be needing some re-scheduling if East Bengal wins the AFC Cup quarter final tie.
