Cud IFN author could take interview of @QPR owner or someone associated with it or probably AIFF official who are related with bidding thing?...that will put some light on channai FC team....
@preetam Taking QPR owner's interview might not be feasible at this moment
taking interview of Indians who are related to this bidding (or ISL) might be still possible, but don't expect any inside news. I think some people in this forum give more inside news than what you can get in mainstream media.
Bringing the topic about Chennai City FC here from the transfer thread.
This is some good news. However it would take us to 11 clubs... so is there another team yet to be announced for next season?
Anyhow, Chennai City FC have till December to get ready. Many things need to happen before they kick-off, there job will be harder than JSW with Bangalore was. JSW had the luxury of a good atmospheric stadium already made and easy to decorate, a good football loving part of Bangalore, decent local players, and a past football history.
Chennai is almost a newcomer here, the stadium options are not really great. The MA Chidambaram Stadium is a lovely modern stadium but it is cricket only and football will not look good in it while the Nehru Stadium needs a massive make-over, not to mention that it is way to big and the track will ruin the atmosphere. The local players from Chennai are not really great. Dharmaraj Ravanan is probably the best player and he was off form this season.
It is tough to tell how this team will do... again, they have 6 months to get something working for them.
Surely long term we should hold the advantage. Football is a better sport IMO than cricket and Chennai City will be playing practically year long whereas Super Kings are a 2-3 month show.
Nethaji (Not gonna use CCFC unless its confirmed) should pull a massive coup if they can bring in fans, Chennai is traditionally a cricketing centre. So for a ambitious club to setup its base is surely some task. Have some decent players playing for tamil nadu actually, Maybe 3-4 may actually make the cut nationally but certainly need some investing as these players are cheap too (Ravanan, Mohanraj are I-league payscale) A raegan has decent potential and hottest property in the local divisions. Am afraid they would need to go the african way for a couple of seasons as they dont have roots european wise.

Ravanan last year told to TOI there are good Tamil players which dnot want to go to goa or Kolkata to play
TN team player Raegan rejected mmb offer for next season after Santosh trophy
