I don't know why I consider 2011-12 my favorite. We had some amazing games, East Bengal winning 8-1 against HAL for example. We had some new talents come out of nowhere, Ranti Martins was practically in his prime... a lot of typical foreigners in Indian football were.
I've been watching European football for more than a decade, supported Barcelona at club level and Argentina at national level religiously. And for the first time, I had a team from my background to support and watch via ISL. I've never watched any of the I league matches but have watched 80% of Barca matches the past decade. The ISL offered many like me a team to support and cheer for.
You may dislike my post but it's unfair expecting a guy like me from Kerala to support i league with teams named Dempo, Salgaocar, Lajong and be their fan. I also need our own team and the sooner the ISL becomes an year long league and replace the I league, the better! Hopefully, it'll happen by Qatar 2022 and India will play in it. Banana republics like Iran and North Korea participates in the world cup and India's much better than the current status.
And one more thing, before the ISL, the only Indian player I knew was Sunil Chettri but I know every player in Barca, Madrid, Atletico, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Liverpool, PSG, Juventus. Bayern, Dortmund, Milan and Inter. This is the situation with most Keralites. I league offered us nothing but ISL offered us something. Once the ISL was over, we've stopped watching Indian football till the next ISL.
@atuljg oks due me from Uttarakhand , we dont have much history in Indian football .. so accoridng to u people of uttarakhand will never watch Indian football ?

Sadly this is the attitude of most people in india... around 90% want to see only the best and support only the best... that is the reason we get great support in cricket where we are among the elites while in rest people go for the places where they see the best...
Like often said by @arsenalfan007 we indian only support champions... it not everyday you find a fan of newcastle or southanpton or everton, may be from EPL..
in fact my friends tell me that i should be loyal than swapping teams every 2 seasons from tottenham(dont get pissed i liked the trio of bale-modric-lennon) to newcastle to swansea to saints currently... but truly i still support mumbai fc
