I'm saying this again and again. We don't want quantity. We have been bullshitting around with quantity all these days. We want quality and without this we can never achieve success. About 40 players ashlesh said, 40 are on field players. What about those players that are in the team. Remember, we have 14 indians in every team. Each member is going through the same drills, same practice process. Its not like the manager is gonna say, " You are Chutiya". You are not gonna train." If we have 10 teams. We will therefore have 140 indians playing and training at that level. That ain't bad IMO. We obviously should have more than that. But, for a start that is decent enough. Tweak the rules when in future the league attains a loyal fan base and we have decent quality.
Otherwise make I-League 2nd division and ISL first division. I-League clubs cannot achieve worse attendance. Its not that if we bring these teams in ISL we can achieve more attendance. And it is also not the case if we have ISL, then their attendance is gonna decrease. We can then have proper relegation and promotion. Kolkata clubs should prove that they can come, work hard and promote to higher division. Legacy se kaam nahi chalega. People have shown that they don't want FED CUP. What they think about I-League I don't know.
About 4 foreigners rule, that is applicable only for AFC competitions. Every federation has its own rules for the no. of foreigners playing in the team. In our case it is 4. In this way even the ISL teams will struggle with AFC Champions league. But, the domestic league will be of good quality. Compromises have to be made in the beginning. But, kuch pane ke liye kuch khona padhta hai
Yes. 140 players are enough. We dont need to get AIFF academy in I league as a team. Infact we dont need AIFF academy at all. ISL teams have to do all this stuff.
You also got the fact that eventually we will see Indian players moving abroad from the ISL... thus meaning that there spot on an ISL team will replaced with another Indian.... now that makes 141 in a 10 team ISL Indians playing at a top level
Isl should have 10 teams next year. The 2 franchisee teams in I league can be asked to enter ISL at Bengaluru and Hyderabad. I dont understand what Kalyani Bharat is doing at Pune. They could have opted into a new city like Hyderabad/ Chandigarh/ Ahmedabad/ Jaipur and made it easier for the expansion of the ISL.
NO! We should aim for stability among the eight current clubs before expanding. Research some other sports leagues who expanding quickly and look at where they are now.
Hell, look at the I-League. A dream to be at 18-20 teams by around now and we are stuck on 11, 10 of which are crap.
Look at the marquee players in I league: Bengaluru - Joshua Walker East Bengal - Leo Bertos Salgaocar - Francis Kasonde Mohun Bagan - Pierre Boya Dempo - Carlos Hernandez Sporting Goa - Anthony Wolfe Royal Wahingdo - Denzil Theobald Bharat FC - Bobby Hassel Pune - ??? Lajong - ??? Mumbai FC - ???
Are these the kind of players we need. We had better players without the marquee rule. ISL may not be sustainable but is the I league sustainable?? We dont need sustainence at the cost of these cheap marquees. Fact that 3 teams have no marquee yet just few days before start of the I league says a lot.
