Indira Gandhi stadium was renovated recently for the ISL. That includes new main and training pitch. Yes, they are maintained by state government as they own it.
sandesh jinghan thoughts before Nepal tie: Sandesh Jhingan, the Sporting Goa centre-back, on loan from the Kerala Blasters, and the Indian Super League’s (ISL) emerging player of the year award recipient, is on cloud number nine after receiving a call-up to the national squad to face the challenge of the Nepal, in a two legged pre-qualifier for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. The former United Sikkim and Mumbai FC centre-back was speaking exclusively to Goal after Sporting Goa’s loss to Bharat FC in the I-League and elucidated that he knows there’s a lot of hard-work to be done if he is to become an India mainstay at the back, whilst looking forward to the Gorkhali challenge. “It’s a big thing for any player, especially for me. I’m glad but I know I have to stay focused. I need game time and I still haven’t made my debut yet. So we have a new coach and a new system. So we have to wait and see what happens. Hopefully I will get to make my competitive debut,” revealed Jhingan, who is a St. Stephen’s Academy graduate, when questioned on the significance of this call up for him. Reminded of how India suffered defeat at the hands of Nepal in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship, Jhingan explained that whilst he and his compatriots want to win every game, revenge was the last thing on their minds. “We defeated them in Siliguri (in a friendly), but of course we want to win all the games. It’s a pre-qualifier for the World Cup qualifiers, so the gravity of the match is higher. It’s nothing about revenge, but it’s a big match for us and we want to win. So, we’ll go prepared,” he elucidated. Questioned on what he felt the impact of coach Stephen Constantine would be, on the spirit of the squad attending the camp, Jhingan opined, “The squad is a young one. The spirits are high. The players are aggressive but at the same time we need some mature players which we already have in the squad. Coach Constantine is already experienced in training the national team. So it’s a big positive for us and God willing we’ll get a good result and press further on." Finally, the B.C. Roy Trophy winner explained as to how the ISL had impacted his life in the short and long run by enunciating, “It was a big thing for me, personally. It’s helped me improve as a player a lot with a consistent level of performance. Games didn’t really have a lot of time between them, so it taught me to stay consistently fit as well. By God’s grace, I got good luck as well. It’s a good thing for me. I have to carry on with a lot of pressure on my shoulders as well every time I play. “So, it’s been a lot of excitement and at the same time it’s taught me responsibility. So, it was extremely good,” he concluded.
So fast?? I hope they look after a proper drainage system also. So where will they move I-League games from 1st April? Barasat Stadium? Kalyani Stadium?
@archak Second Round of WCQ. Thats June . By that time, Natural Turf of Salt Lake Stadium will be ready. okay. If work for removing Artificial Turf is starting from April 1st week, which will include removal of Artificial Turf and relaying of Natural turf, it will take some weeks-probably April to May atleast. So I-League will have to be moved to kalyani, Barasat for that period?
