Do you know what context? Introduce kids to the game has been used by my Red Bulls for youth development even though every kid with them has played before. They could mean that they are introducing the kids to the game proper, to the proper rules of the game and how to practice the game.
As for the one-day camps, that is still better than what we were all saying before. Literally, back in December we all thought that barely anything would happen or that nothing at all would happen and now look, we are seeing grassroots programs start in Chennai, Goa, and Mumbai with Armando Colaco revealing the plans for Atletico de Kolkata's program.
They won't go all out with academies and such yet, those require a lot of money to be run properly (and not on the cheap like Pune probably does) but these camps are a good start.
hopefully they will have some long term youth development program. Mini Academies like IMG ones in America should be introduced in India with collaboration with local schools. Hopefully this should not just be limited to some PR exercise of 2-3 days Football Festivals and sending some ISL Indian Junior players for small training stints abroad. We need Long term Residential Academies and proper scouting at junior level.
@munna219777 Well, to be honest, how much media attention has been given to these camps? Not much. Other than some pictures and announcements I actually think these are genuine. Agree that long-term we need proper residential academies.
