Lol... but seriously... I remember there being talk of Atletico Madrid hoping to make a training ground in Rajarhat. I would love if that actually happened with some great facilities!
I feel FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC would so do this with Delhi Dynamos being content with some University field only.
What training ground, they did not even give the money promised to the fan's kins (who died during a match), but were quick to announce in press and hog the limelight.
ISL 1 is done and dusted, we are looking forward to ISL 2. Will talk about youth development and infra then only (simply because it won't make much headlines now plus we have other businesses as well).
Last saturday I visited Action area 2 & 3 and two sides of Rajarhat expressway. A nice square shaped cricket stadium with green lash outfield is ready for action near city center 2. Constructed and maintained by Rajarhat (NK) development authority. Why can't government build a football stadium?
We should be able to develop a world-class training facility there at least! Atletico de Kolkata technically has the money to fund it themselves and honestly, how can Atletico Madrid expand their market if they don't cater to the Indian team?
If a stadium is ever made it needs to be in the city.
Also... not sure if this is where to put this but I remember there being a discussion for what players we would like to see in the second ISL... got one. Andrew Nabbout of the Melbourne Victory. 22 year old Australian forward. He has a lot of A-League experience but for some reason just can not find the back of the net yet when he plays in the youth league he is by far one of the best players.
He is one of those players that seems to not be fully good enough to be a key man in the A-League yet but too good for the state leagues so maybe the ISL can be a nice place for him. He won't be a key man but if Iain Hume can make a name for himself here then maybe Andrew can to.
YES! I liked Orr with Toronto FC last season. Was not the best player but he worked his ass off from what I heard so you know he is a hard worker. He has plenty of experience and really would help the younger Indians.
Also, going back to the joke I made. It reminds me of what my sister told me from when she went to college and how in the US it is important for colleges to show that they are "diverse" so in one of the photos the photographer shouted to her friend "Hey, you are Asian! Get in this photo!". Obviously they did not pick my sis as they already had two Indian girls in the pic but they needed an Asian to complete their "diverse" pic. Good stuff.
