I totally agree with @ArsenalFa700 point on that nothing has changed. Not a big fan of Bob but he took India to places that we can't even go to at present. Hope with our new coach we can do the same.
4-4-2 means we will see someone upfront to support sunil ...he badly needed it to score goals bal want physical presence can be used and if India win in this formation no one will mind .... if new formation is to be implemented it shud be done in u23 matches not here ...we already saw tweaked formation under wim was catastrophe ... so let Stephen choose his strategy ... Bob was at least giving the result ....
I guess ppl are/were pissed with Houghton mainly because of the long ball strategy adopted which was not pleasing to watch..but still Bob actually has got us the best results and best out of an ordinary set of players and actually really developed some very good younger players..the confidence he gave to the players was there to see for everyone..I remember his last few days when he was involved in legal case with AIFF..he came to watch an i league match just out of boredom and at half time all players rushed towards him into the stands and touched his feet!!..this is something I have never seen before
All India Football Federation has appointed a new look support staff for the Indian Senior National Team for its International commitments. Besides former Indian National Team Captain Shanmugam Venkatesh who has been roped in as Assistant Coach, Daniel Darrel Deigan will be in charge of fitness, rehabilitation and injury prevention. Furthermore, Rogerio Ramos, have earlier had stints with Goan Clubs in the National League has been appointed as the Goalkeeping Coach.
Deigan, an Australian by birth has a Masters Degree in strength and conditioning and is a “young energetic sports scientist.” “He has earlier worked in the A-League with Clubs and is an expert on strengthening, conditioning and rehabilitation which I am very much into as a Coach,” National Coach Stephen Constantine told www.the-aiff.com. “It’s important to plan the diets and the eating habits and at any given time, the Player needs to be aware of the colour of his urine and what it actually means.” “Football is all about detail and someone who pays attention to it is required. He will add something to the National Team which it never had and it will have its impact, both in the short term as well as long term.” “Rogerio have earlier worked with me as the National Goalkeeping Coach in Sudan and also in Cyprus. Obviously he is known in India and had worked with me during my first stint in India,” Constantine echoed about the new Goalkeeping Coach. “He is someone who knows his job and gives everything to the Course. He will be the first to get onto the pitch and the last to get off it.”
Why is 4-4-2 bad again? Sunil + Robin Up front. Using wide players as inside forwards rather than out and out wingers. A holding midfielder in the centre and a playmaker/. And a tight back four.
@Ronny I think people were not actually pissed off. He was shown the door not because of performance or long ball tactics. He used Asia Cup stage to show the world how poor our infrastructure is. That spread anger among politicians and journos. Heated argument with Dinesh Nair worked as catalyst. He earned a racist name which ended his coaching career eventually. Any way he earned respect from all footballers. That is the biggest thing a coach can have.
