I just don't like the source who choose to remain anonymous. I have also only really seen that when it comes to reading Indian articles. I see it in other articles around the world but not as much as Indian football ones where it seems like every article includes "from a source who choose to remain nameless" or something.
For all we know, this is an I-League official who hates the idea of ISL.
I think when you are reporting these things you should speak to the CEOs, rather than some "sources".. I think many of them have spoken for a longer league. Some of them like FCPC & ATK CEO have said that its easier to convince players to come for a year than 3 months. However i think we need to look into the marquee rule and its definition
Rubbish article. The only reason we are not getting better foreigners is because of 1) Short season of 2.5 months 2) Salary cap 90% of ISL foreigners will play in ISL if the money is good , season is long, and their teams help them getting posh apartments on rent for a year. (Obviously for a longer season, players wont stay in hotels more often ). Players hate the idea of having a job for 3 months and then again searching for jobs after that. They look for long term contracts. Looking at the foreigners at ATK , apart from Postiga, rest are easily gettable for a longer season.
@debarghya89 Problem is that CEOs will probably pay lip service to reporters whereas "sources" give you the insider information CEOs don't want you to know supposedly.
Only SCG & Salgaocar have objected it from the i-league teams formally as per the above report. Key point to note is EB/MB & BFC will not cause issues if they are accommodated in the top tier.
Says a lot about the unity of the i-league clubs.
So far officially NEUFC, PCFC, DSK (I-league), Lajong (I-league) have openly supported it provided revenue model is clear. CFC am sure they are ready for a longer format, With tying up contracts on major i-league players though not offically supported it. FC Goa have personal issues with ISL & AIFF although they will have to eventually come into the fold.
No news from MCFC, DD. KBFC have their own problems to sort out
When you promote a league , its called a gimmick (ISL) when you dont, you say AIFF is not taking any initiative to promote the league (I league) What is wrong with these "stalwarts" of Indian football? These articles wouldnt have been written if MB EB Mohameddan were made part of ISL, coz thats what they care about more.
