We frequently talk about MLS and A league having closed leagues, but in case anyone missed, even K league was a closed league till 2012 , gradually pro-re; was introduced.. They even have a 3rd and 4th tier without pro-rel to the top. Just saying. Nothing to go crazy about India having a closed league at the top.
@souravindia Actually look into it. NYCFC's salary numbers are increased just because of three players, David Villa, Frank Lampard, and Andrea Pirlo. Other than them, the salaries of all the other players are close together and that is the same throughout all the teams.
How is this proven? Look at who the best teams were last year, the league winners Portland only spent $5 million while runners-up Columbus did $4.5. My Red Bulls lost in the semi-finals and only had $3 million. NYCFC did not even make the play-offs and the Galaxy were rubbish and so were Toronto if not for Giovinco.
My point still stands, all the teams are on equal footing.
@red_devil But they have it now and that is what people will mention... that and "Europe"

--I like this line. Just goes to show money isn't everything isn't it? A league should be amalgamation of everything. You cannot loose out on one because you want the other only to suffice.
Money isn't everything in terms of how the squads are made up. The salary cap ensures that it is the team with the best managements who do well and not just the ones that spend big on 3 players out of an entire squad of over 20.
Toronto was the highest spending team with only 3 of their players making super bucks... one of them came up big and became the best player in the league while the other 2 were also okay, the rest of the team were in shambles and because of a rubbish defense, they failed. Portland and Columbus don't have flash but they picked good enough players based on their limits and it paid off.
As for your A-League article, Brisbane have fixed those issues. The Newcastle Jets are closer to being sold and the league is about the enter negotiations for a new TV deal which could be massive for them. This is coming off a grand final which attracted over 50,000 people in Adelaide and around half the teams starting plans of opening youth and professional training centers. The league is also set to expand to 12 teams in a couple years.
So a Pune FC failure and IPL outcast are the best people to decide Indian football 's future? And then we have pricky little glory boys bending over backwards to prove how that's the right way forward? Been fun reading this..lmao!

But ya, keep referencing an article from October 2015 instead of something recent which does mention the difficulties and troubles.
