No one watches ten action . But most house holds have ten sports . Zee tv ? Isn't that a drama channel ^_^
No idea about valley but lots of local club football does take place . Some of them get articles written on sports page .
These dish subscribers are cheat . They charge 60 rupees per star HD channel . I am stuck with HD 2 .
I support what ashish has said.we in kerala too people r not aware of anything called i league..but they watch and follow premier league,la liga, euro, copa and world cups.It was only after Isl happened, youth of this state atleast started to give some time for indian football. Now they watch isl matches even when there is premier league matches(i think dat itself s a big change). For a state which has no ileague first or second division clubs but large no of youth playing amatuer football in schools and colleges, isl club is the only hope.so blatanly attacking isl or so called proposed league structure is non sense.appreciatewat aiff is doing..good things take time
A central revenue pool would have to generate 700-800 crores of sponsorship money to cover losses of all 8 teams every year.
People think that sponsorship revenues will be as high as that from the very start. First year central central revenue was around 50 cr...doubled to 114 cr in season 2. Its a gradual process .
I can have eight sponsors but if they pay me 1 crore each, its still just 8 crores
you are generalising individual sponsorships. Hitesh Gossain, CEO ofOnspon.com – a sponsorship marketplace says, “The second season of the Hero ISL saw teams bagging sponsors ranging from INR 40 Lakhs to INR 9 Crores per sponsor. The best teams pulled in anywhere between INR 15-20 Crores with regional and national brands queuing up to have a slice of the pie.” NorthEast United FC retained principal sponsor HTC for an alleged INR 7.5 crores. So from 7-8 cr in first season to 15-20 cr in second season is a massive jump.
Regarding foreign players , loads of "decent " foreigners will come to ISL. You would be very wrong if you think young foreigners aren't using ISL (with all its worldwide broadcast) to propel their career and land a better deal abroad. You would be wrong if you think that Nicolas Velez's move to Croatia has got NOTHING to do with his stint in ISL You would be wrong if you think Richard Gadze's move to FInland has got nothing to do with ISL....Regarding Mendoza this is what NYFC Sporting director had to say,
New York City FC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna said:
“I think Mendoza will be an exciting player to watch and will bring further pace and creative ability to the squad. He has good experience in Brazil with Corinthians and has played abroad in India - so he also has experience playing outside of South America. We are confident that he will adapt well to MLS and be an important player for us moving forward.”
Its obvious, foreign clubs are definitely not ignoring ISL. Atleast the foreigners that are now playing in ISL have offers from abroad, not like the ones we see in I league.
Thats my whole point. AIFF went with a shit broadcaster with minimal penetration and topped it up with no marketing for I-League. You cannot blame the clubs. If tomorrow Star Sports televises only 30 ISL games that too in select channel and IMG-R withdraws all ads, very few people would recall ISL after one year.
Anyways, ISL so far has been a failure in money terms and youth development, infrastructure terms. If they prolong the league from unviable it will become unsustainable.
You are expecting too much without willing to give it time .
Hello ! We are living in a country named India . Though we are a fastest growing economy we lack in basic infra . Expecting a stadium and academy in such a short time from ranbir , jhon and virat is too much ^^ we should rather focus on upgrading current infra .
Its like people here desperately WANT ISL to fail....praying their hearts out regularly. All of a sudden people are dreaming Star will minimise broadcasting a product that is reaching the masses and is a big hit amongst all age groups in India. The ISL teams are supposedly paying 10-15 cr as franchisee fees, which is being used for promoting the league (Broadcast, adverts etc). Why will star all of a sudden reduce the number of live telecasts of a match to almost half ? Why will IMG-R withdraw ads? Doesnt make sense either. So long Star keeps reaching the masses and gives visibilty to the brands, revenue will keep pouring.

I knew parts of the country where certain channels were not always available back in the day.
So that would explain why i-league didn't penetrate as much.
