I think they are out to dupe the Aussies. There won't be any A'bad or Hyd franchisees. IMG-R as it is are struggling to keep the league short (to keep viewers interested plus costs within control). I don't think they at this point would be interested to expand the league. Their main headache is how to accomodate the big 2, keep it within 10/ 12 teams, and the like.
l am more inclined to believe Tripathi is out to impress the Aussies for business reasons, even if lining it with a little lie.
On the merger, that has been a long stretched issue that slowly seems to have approaching its closure, Praful said,
“There merger between I-League and ISL won’t happen this year. In
future, if there is a merger it has to happen in the reverse way. ISL
will have to merge with I-League not the other way round. I-League
remains our priority because there can only be one nationl league. The
name can be whatever, name is not important”
why the hell mother fucker allowed this to happen in first place. Putting everything into shit and messy ... Always giving saying we don't have time line. I have never seen any idiot in the top position say if merger happens it will happen, if not it will not. Fix the fucking time and work on it if not kicked the IMG if they don't agree.
See they never promised Merger. Intent is there but different parties have their own objectives.
1) What is the benefit of IMG-R in merger. They are running their own private petty league with film stars , cricket players. Why will they include outsiders? If it merges or follow AFC FIFA guidelines, it will have to give away its freedom. 2) FIFA and AFC recognise I-League. They have nothing to do with merger. 3) To show to FIFA, this was promoted that talks are going on for merger. 4) IMG-R never officially said that merger will happen. 5) AIFF clearly said that if it happens it happens. The ball is in IMG-R court. 6) We should not blame AIFF or PP or IMG-R for something they never promised.
Somehow fans became very confident about merger. I will not be surprised if merger never happens.
Talks are there in NASA for last 40 years to send Man to Mars also. You cannot hold them accountable for not sending by now.

Also that 100,000 seater thing makes everything even stranger.
