Coming back to the topic. Isnt it going to be economical and closer to breakeven if the league (If) is merged to go ahead with the 4+1 instead of (3+1) for a couple of seasons where by you are cutting down on atleast 2-3 crap foriegn players who just have come in for the money.
Lowering the salary cap to 15 crores should do the trick by not compromising on true quality. Duration between Aug - Mar with emergency foriegner loan windows during Aug & Jan to bring in players from abroad who have not received contracts abroad and can come and play for 3-4 months here.
I also feel where india is really loosing the trick is not on the players quality in the middle but tactically. Investing in coaching by putting in mandatory Asst coaches (If head coach is forigner) and analysts to be only Indians.
True, But the Budget is the same as that of MB/EB in the i-league. Your Milan susak's and Leo's etc are the result of poor player scouting rather than getting the right players in.
True, we have got to set that as a player budget limit to ensure no big willies like piero and anelka's dont get into the squad.
Utility players who are better than indian players in xyz positions are the ones who would be interested in coming here. You wont believe the number of players who have not been given contracts in June that can be coaxed to come here and play till dec.
more often than not most of these players would like to stick to finish the job which could end in march than go back and try to get a contracts in thier own country's
One thing i would say is a good benefit i saw in ISL is your Ranti's, Tolgay's, Odafa's are being sidelined. I understand thats the best you can get with a longer league currently, But i refuse to believe that's all the best we can do if a combined league is increased to atleast 5 months.
Can we compete against SEA countries for the best players? You know the Nico Velez types?
Agree. We should be able to do well foreigner wise, even with the longer league. Honestly, I am not all the bothered about the AFC competitions, what? Do we expect ourselves to compete with the likes of Guangzhou Evergrande or even Buriram United straight away? That is why I don't mind keeping the foreigners set at 6-8 (6 starting) and slowly lower as the quality of Indians improve (hopefully).
Plenty of quality players in Asia, South America, and Africa who would come to India for a full season on good salaries.
Just keep the British footballers out. They're always followed by British masala journalists looking to prove how poor India is. I don't think any other country journalists look to do it.
