Why keep the British (or Australians) out? I spoke to Colin Falvey a few months ago and he said he loved his time in India and Stephen Pearson, Iain Hume, and, to an extent, Jamie McAllister, were well thought of in India and did not say much wrong of the country.
And honestly, its not the players fault. Ramage seems to like it in India otherwise he would have been off long ago but he seems to be enjoying his time, despite what the media guy said.
I deal with the same thing when it comes to MLS. Sure, it may not be as bad as India but I still think it is bad when the first question given to Gerrard or Villa is about how they must not get noticed cause no one knows football in America or how easy going it must be compared to the Premier League or La Liga.
I would say lets have the 3+1 rule in starting line up and one more in reserves...Even if we have the same salary cap as in ISL now i.e. 15 crore, that works out to 3 crore on average for a foreign player...That's lot of money to bring decent foreigners even for a 6 month league...
And lets just do away with the stupid Marquee rule..Or else modify it so that lesser known players like Semih Senturk is considered a marquee and just the Mutu,Postiga,Simao types..
Semih Senturk as a marquee? I guess, I would have thought more young and South American like Jefferson Duque or something. A club like Kerala Blasters don't need a "Anelka or Pires" type marquee, they can "create" a marquee honestly. Senturk is not bad though, a marquee in the A-League for sure.
Lowest number of foreigners in the starting XI I can go with is 5. Don't want to compromise the quality (look) of football to much.
screw the british media's fetish of showcasing and carrying a poverty fetish of india.
i say british players just add the fire on top of that. "British player playing god to indian slum boys" blah blah.. just talk about the fuckin football cos thats what u are here for not to act like a missionary of god by giving out frisbees.
Do they do the same shit if they play in south america and east european countries where poverty is just like this?
No, they have to talk about poverty in a football magazine as if they still have some duty in this country.
atleast one thing about this interview and with darren de dea "the MCFC defender" was that he was atleast frank that he got good money to play here else would be forced to be at home without a contract and a family to support.
but why and where is the poverty thing coming in this? is it bcos the fuckin reporter had to ask this whenever he comes to india? couldnt you just say you r here to just play for the team and the fans? not here to talk economics, how hard can it be?
5 could be ok for now I guess...But the point is clubs should not spend on more than 5 foreigners whatever the salary cap is..Or else we would have more of random players just to fill up the quota
Wait, do you want 5 players max? I was just saying 5 in the starting eleven and then maybe 2 on the bench for 7 total. Lowers the total from 11 to 7 and if the marquee rule is softened then even more is saved.
I mean 5 max..Longer league means less chances of injury..Why pay 2 foreigners to sit on bench?
Also, dont forget that a longer league means every foreigner playing in ISL would have to be paid atleast double of what they are being paid now...A softened marquee rule wont help much if the salary cap is kept the same as it is now
