@ArsenalFan700 I dont know which article you are talking about. There is nothing wrong in pre-season matches. MLS Franchises, local stadiums, Sponsors which are American Businesses, TV Channels all make money out of it. Problem will come when you sabotage MLS or Domestic Football of USA to accomodate such matches-which they are smart enough to not do that.

If corporate backers for Mohun Baganand East Bengalare not found by May, the new 10-team football league comprising Indian Super League (ISL) franchises and I-League clubs may not kick-off in 2017-18. http://www.hindustantimes.com/football/isl-i-league-merger-finding-backers-for-mohun-bagan-east-bengal-key-to-start/story-Z8C3guXQZZOe5At8UXfhII.html

    10 teams? Means no BFC?

May be 2 franchise based team from Gujarat and Ranchi

funny though ugh there is no single Gujarati player and they have team. Would have been better if they would have created a team from Punjab or Kashmir or Hyderabad where people actually play

isl kind of helped Kerala to get back into football map big time. Things related to football moving faster  there. Hope they could have done same for old power house like Hyderabad or sports state of Punjab

I do not accept that a club has to combine with a corporate. I think the club budget for all ISL clubs consisted of sponsor money. If I put it in another way, a corporate club may be considered a failure if they cannot attract enough sponsors to cover their budget, and have to sink their own money. In other words again, in the same boat as MB & EB. So what's the fuss? If the two can bring on sponsors then why they should need corporates?

The chances of East Bengal and Mohun Bagan playing in the ISL has increased further more. IMG-R has sent a notice regarding sponsors to East Bengal and Mohun Bagan.
The notice was recieved by the officials of East Bengal and Mohun Bagan by friday evening.

Nita Ambani, President of the FSDL along with IMG-R want to induct East Bengal and Mohun Bagan into ISL 4 by any means and many sponsorship problems loom over this.

The notice states names of many corporates who may agree for deals with East Bengal and Mohun Bagan as sponsors. IMG-R also has agreed to concede 15 Years to East Bengal and Mohun Bagan with a reduced fee to play in the ISL – Indian Super League.

As of Now, The Merged League would have 11 Teams with no Relegation. If East Bengal and Mohun Bagan Officials agree to the given contract in the Notice recieved, many problems would be then put to rest of sponsorship problems of a franchise fee of Rs. 50 crore.

If the officials delay by more than 2 months, the merger problems would escalate and it would take another year to get things on an agreement.

It has also come to the light that IMG-R are looking to let East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Atletico De Kolkata to play together from Kolkata by giving an exception in the current One City, One Team Rule

IMG-R has sent contract papers to East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. The clubs will likely base themselves in or around Kolkata. (Source:ABP)

Also, the report rightly points out that if ISL is a professionally run tournament, then why the clubs need one year's exemption for confirming to AFC/FIFA norms? This extension is not for MB, EB or BFC obviusly. Clearly we were fed lies.

Not incorporating Aizawl/ Lajong would be a cruel joke for Indian football. Money (generation) is the only criterion here, not football par se. The 'Indian' mindset always makes this mistake of considering the North East as a monolith and unilaterally allocating one spot for the region. North East is not that.

It dismays me beyond limits how a private entity is calling shots for indian football and the federation is sitting silently, making themselves totally irrelevant.
