Different sources of money/aid are there. Every country government gives aid in various forms to their various sports federations. FIFA gives grant to different associations including AIFF. Different sponsors are there. AIFF had money before they signed up deal with IMG-R and they will have it from some other source also if IMG-R is not there.
Have you seen any federation around the world running two leagues, one legal and one illegal (ISL)  just because IMG-R wants to run one sham league??? If such is the pre-condition, then look for some other sponsor.

    Without IMG-R ,AIFF earns only 13 crores/year.
They can't survive in such a small amount.

Well then sign up with some other company which will not force an illegal league. FIFA has 211 members. How are other 210 members surviving without a crooked company which forces an illegal league? Learn from them !!! Surely AIFF did not die from hunger or bankruptcy before they signed up with IMG-R. There was a world before AIFF tied up with IMG-R.

    The question is:
    Did anybody else approach?
Can they pay the same money as or more than IMG-R?
Can they improve the I-league with their finance?(which was what originally meant to happen as per the IMG-R deal)

    1) It is AIFF job to approach, not the other way around.
    2) Why money has to be more then what IMG-R pays? If somebody is giving 8 crores and other company is giving 10 crores with a precondition of running an illegal league which will undermine the whole domestic calendar. In that case, go for the lower offer. Even BCCI or Hockey India never compromised with their domestic or international calendar in order to run a sham league. They did not close down Ranji Trophy or any hockey tournament so that IPL or HIL can go smoothly.
    3) With IMG-R finances, they have deteriorated the I-league or other tournaments. Priorities with finance are also important.
While Academies are being shut down, crores spent on corporate jets carrying Abhishek Bachchan to attend an illegal league matches is counted as money spent on Indian Football.

just wondering if that 50 cr/yr is only being used to make them dance to the tunes of IMG-R.

AIFF didn't explore the sponsorship market. All they did were to ask ONGC. Initially, Philips were a good sponsor. But beyond the initial yars of NFL, AIFF failed to upgrade their prime product NFL to lure sponsors ('I-league' was just a change of name, rest remaining the same). So sponsors did not come.

The fault lies squarely with AIFF. They cannot pretend that they have tried hard to revive football and after getting fustrated they brought in IMG-R. They just didn't try.

Read carefully,I said "equal or more than IMG-R". AIFF will be considered lunatic if they settle for anything less than what IMG-R pay.
If AIFF approach for investment, then there is a high chance that AIFF will have to work on their conditions, and become puppets in the hands of new investors.

You mean to say run illegal league just because they are giving more money? Sabotage whole domestic./ international setup because they are giving more money. Right now they are more puppets then before.

I agree the Federation were responsible for downfall of I-League but so we're the clubs

Dempo,Salgoacar,Churchill,JCT,Mahindra the most successful teams in I-League/NFL failed to build any fanbase
Instead wanted to have their team a part of their business empire
    They hardly tried

Named after Families or business groups they would hardly attract a base, that's where they failed big
