Actually Mohun Bagan, EB, BFC, Aizawl all should play in the Top League of India...whatever name you give it. AIFF desires atleast Mohun Bagan, EB & BFC in ISL so that they can get the approving nod from AFC to name it officially India's top most league. Without Mohun Bagan, EB & BFC ISL will never get the seal of approval from AFC. Any tricks continued indefinitely by AIFF will get them suspended & their Malkin will run away then.
@munna21977 indeed that's where AIFF's fault lies. The original deal had the agreement of improving the present league and not start a new one.
AIFF should have enlightened them about technicalities of club football.
They are the root cause of this chaos.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Bengaluru FC, East Bengal, and Mohun Bagan are given preference. The press release says that 1-3 bids will be accepted which leaves the possibility open for all 3 to be awarded franchises and the release said that for Kolkata, the winning bidder would only miss out for 2 seasons in the city which probably I guess is a nice compromise. Not the best but certainly better than us thinking EB and MB could never play in Kolkata again.
@shubham_northeastern The original deal or say pre-condition of IMG-R associating themselves with AIFF was that they wanted IPL style football league of their own. AIFF agreed to that. IMG-R never said that they will improve I-league or club football in India.
@ArsenalFan700 There is one Gujarat team also from Ahmedabad. Their mysterious owner was tweeting from Australia many months ago about confirmed slot at Ahmedabad. Between 1 to 3, so one slot goes to ahmedabad as even PP was there at that stadium inaugration. Tata seems to be keen so one slot goes to Tata at Jamshedpur. BFC seems to be very quiet- Parth Jindal tweeted long time ago that alas BFC and Mb will not play in the same league next year. So 3 slots are already decided. Why are they inviting bids then???
Lol, of course, the usual skepticism from IFN. Well, here's another one, what if Gujarat and Jamshedpur are being used to put pressure on East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and Bengaluru FC? This is it, you pretty much join now or you stand to be out forever. East Bengal and Mohun Bagan want in but don't want to pay the fee and other things... okay, well, we have other places and other people willing to give in to our conditions.
"Our president has made it clear that we are not going to be part of the ISL and so there is no question of buying any bid document," Mitra told PTI.
"Our only concern is that I-League should continue to be the official league of the country and it's winner should play in the Asian Champions League play-off while the Federation Cup winners should play in the AFC Cup," he added.
ISL and I-league running simultaneously ... hmmm. Indigenous, I must say. With MB, EB & BFC out of I-league, who will watch it? Only North-easterners? Needless to say, this league (League I) will suffer from eyeballs-issue and will be disbanded very soon, leaving ISL as the only torch bearer of Indian football.
The birth of a footballing nation will be complete then.

BFC will enter now itself.
