@shanks_dehighliving@mohammed_87hassan Exactly. Personally I think it is impossible now to "merge" the two leagues, especially within less than a year. We would need a completely new league and everything. ISL would probably want nothing to do with I-League teams and instead want to expand slowly from 10 teams to 12 soon.
You really believe Shillong Lajong would do well in a merged league? Do they have the funds for it? Would a second Goan club work in ISL yet? Also expanding 4 more teams after adding 2 the previous year + pro/rel.... with what?
SLFC is more financially independent than any I League club, They have better understanding and system in place with their sponsors, I think once provided chance they will do well and why you guys think all ISL teams need to have same financial backing? Let's club decide about how much they want to invest in their teams.
Goa have enough professional players and they need more than 1 representation, I think not many people from the forum have not been to Goa. Before going there I also used to think same. ISL games take place in South Goa and people from North Goa usually skip those because of huge distance. We normally see Goa as a city but it is state. If Kolkata can have 3 teams then I think Goa should also have 2 teams because of more Professional players and stable state structure of football.
I think Shillong can have an ISL side, not sure if that side is Shillong Lajong. What do you mean the same financial backing? We just want teams with some backing which allows them to compete with the rest of the teams without hampering them.
Where would the second Goan side play? What would be the divide between FC Goa and the other Goan side? I suppose you could do a North/South divide and have the other team play at the Tilak Maidan Stadium but that isn't even North Goa. You would also need an investor for the second Goan team and would the team be able to play in Goa with the one city rule (which may be a distance rule)? We also need the player pool which, looking at the Indians in ISL already, isn't that great. Also other metrics need to be taken into account such as the sponsorship pool and how the matches go from 18 to 26 for each team.
Personally, for ISL, I would rather the slow and steady process.
SLFC financial strength can be beefed up by infusion of funds by some investors/ sponsors, the way MB/ EB is to be strengthened. In my opinion, present health of I-league clubs should not be a criteria, mass support should be.
My team composition is: 8 isl teams (chuck Pune City and NEUFC,) add EB, MB, SLFC, Aizawl to make it a12-team league.
There's nothing that stops slfc from joining ISL. But I know very well how they are only managing a meagre budget through various sources (including a mobile shop). I feel they will step back. That's what I mean.
